Kim Muir 2019

He's a non stayer though isn't he?

Even Derek couldn't muster up a good run? Although that was 4 miles....

He'll stay the Kim Muir, no problem imo. Held up out the back and coming with a wet sail after the last. :devilish:

Also entered in the Ultima but I'd prefer him in this.

Yeah, probably.

Cheltenham 7th in Martin Pipe and a 56L 6th in the 4 miler?

Maybe not his track?

I'm not looking at this race yet :highly_amused: Pub time.

Pub on a Thursday? Can't be bad. Enjoy! :very_drunk:

Haslam’s two inmates have proven form at the Festival, and the Middleham handler hopes that will stand them in good stead.

Bouvreuil, who has been placed at three Festivals when trained by Paul Nicholls, has the Brown Advisory & Merribelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase and Grand Annual as his two options.

Squouateur may return for the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup, in which he was third last year for Gordon Elliott.

“We’ve had some good winners with some of Mr McManus’ horses – and with a bit of luck, we might have some heading to Cheltenham in March,” said Haslam.

“Squouateur, who hasn’t run for me yet, was third in the Kim Muir last season. We’ll try and freshen him up and have a go at that with him.”

He has taken his time, meanwhile, with Bouvreuil.

Haslam added: “Bouvreuil won at Wetherby in December. He’s a horse that seems to run best fresh, so we’ve kept him back for the Plate on the same day as the Kim Muir – unless there’s a lot of rain.

“He’s got the option of the Grand Annual as well.

“Those horses that have good form at Cheltenham, it’s always good to try to get them back there for another crack. For those handicaps, you need an enormous amount of luck to even be placed in those races. It will be a case of having a go.”

Cheers for that vic
Added bouv other week for annual nrnb
Just took 45-1 for plate based on that. Ap

Also added squat
Proper dodgy horse but obviously useful
Like what haslam has done on the whole with the mcmanus horses
Bouvreuil looked awesome first time out for him
Hopefully squat can do the same.
Probably not

Had a really good look at this race over lunch, as I feel it's usually one you can find some value in - so many of the entries just aren't suited to this test at all and can be discounted, leaving a relatively short list to look at in more detail.

One that catches my interest is Rolling Dylan, largely on the basis of his close-up 2nd over C&D in December. He's entered in the Ultima but wouldn't be good enough for that.

But who does Hobbs use as his jockey(s) in this sort of race? You really need a good rider in this, otherwise I'd want a HUGE price, and Rolling Dylan is only 20/1 NRNB. Does Hobbs have any form for booking really good riders in these sorts of races?

Rolling Dylan is on my shortlist but for the Ultima at present but its possible he comes here. I will back him wherever he goes.

Thinking glen Rocco will come here after tomorrow Kyle a part owner with fergie in give me a copper

....Kevin Blake’s ante-Post selection for this is a strange one, Measureofmydreams. 25-1 nrnb worthy of consideration given Elliott can get a fragile one back.

Before I check...that's gone off fav for a bigger race than this...

Wrong, he was 3rd behind Minella Rocco / Native River in 'that' 4 miler though.

Been with Willie, Meade and now Gordon...

Yeah no doubt.

He's absolutely right that it'll shorten again if declared.

Single figures come the day?

....possibly. I had a small interest @ 25-1 nrnb.

Nice.

I'm half tempted at 16/1 NRNB just because he could be half in a week or so!

The 3rd in the NH Chase behind Native River and Minella Rocco is pretty standout compared to anything likely to get in... but it's a complete faith bet!

Think it’s all guesswork will struggle to get in this now
Pity if he doesn’t
Think he was plotted for it

Some people commenting on the Ultima thread how much that race cuts up. Nothing compared to this race - it really does cut up! Bottom weight was under 10st last year I think

Hope you are right Delsie
Heard Jamie Codd might be the jockey
Not sure what weight Codd can do
