July ‘26 Yankee courtesy of @Runragged

Yeah was 50s when I'd backed him, managed to boost to 60s so sat nicely with him. He might be worth getting priced by 365 see if they better the current odds offered, I can barely get them to price anything for me nowadays unfortunately.

Trouble when a chelt horse is added to the market this time of year though, any sort of influx of money on a selection in a short period of time will cause a decent chop i feel.
Lovely informative write up as always. Gun to head, which race do you think he's more likely to be targeted at Darlo? I see he's priced up now by 365 for the Turners at 33's. No odds yet for the Supreme.

Hendo usually targets his best at the Supreme doesn't he so would have that slightly favourite at the minute. But if a couple of these do end up being up to the grade, then he could easily move them around so that he holds the strongest hand in both races so really hard to be confident where they'll end up.

He's priced for the Supreme with paddys/sky/betfair

I know it's not Cheltenham, but picking mid summer, it ain't easy to find 4.
And playing the novice hurdle game for a yankee is muggy. IMO.

So why not put a King George horse into the 4.
Limited to B365 but Kitzbuhel @ 12-1 looks value.
Not sure Gaelic will venture over this year, as he might stick to the Irish grade 1's before Cheltenham.
Only doubt on the price is the prep race Kitzbuhel might take in.
He often chucks them all in the Durkan, and he started Kitzbuhel at Punchestown last season at the durkan meeting, so he may need to run well in a really hot Durkan if the price is to hold.
Obviously if he ran well the 12-1 would look excellent. Even if he runs like it's not his target in the durkan I'd still be happy with 12-1 King George though as his way of running suits the track as he showed last season.

I've been doing this with my own multi's ,
for the last few year's , unfortunately for this year , I was way too keen on Caldwell Potter for the k.g.
But I did have a few with the Jukebox too , certainly a good feeling having 3 or 4 at cheltenham running with a 16-1 , already in the bank .
Personally , for k.g. this year , i quite fancy Jango Baie , but i also fancy him for the gold cup too.
I can't combine the k.g. and g.c. with my bookie - coral ., with the same horse ..
But , as i can't see Gaelic Warrior going any other race other than g.c. , it suits pairing those two up , with 2 or 3 others.
So done a few , reversing the races.
So yes , I'm happy to do this with one of our yankee's.. . 👍.

….i’d be sure there’ll be a Jango KG/GC offer.

I assume you meant to tag me @Eggs? :p

Ok, we wanted themed and so with the Turners form proving very strong I am happy to base three selections from it. My thinking is as follows:

Arkle: Looking at King Rasko Grey he is looking pretty solid on the exchanges for the BANC which suggests it could be leaning that way. I'm therefore thinking Act Of Innocence for which there is over £100 to lay at 25s for the race and 20s available with Bet365. It also covers us for the 'law of sod' with Old Park Star in a couple of our yankees. I don't think it is beyond the realms that Act Of Innocence could prove a better chaser than OPS either.

Stayers: I have already said a preference for Zeus Power over Soldier Reeves. I think there is more improvement to come whilst you can't be certain what Skelton will do with SR in his chase for a record number of wins in a season.

BANC: Obviously King Rasko Grey as mentioned is a strong candidate for this race, though there seems to be a nice bit of consensus amongst the group for Bossman Jack who could make up into a top staying chaser and so I am leaning towards the latter.

We now need a 4th selection. I am putting forward the options of:

Supreme: Feel Gut - Is current favourite, already has winning form yet will be a novice and has strong connections with regards this race. We could also chance a French recruit from Jim, though maybe a better option when we start finding out a bit more around who will be racing this season.

Champion Hurdle: Mydaddypaddy, Narcisco Has & Saratoga - Wilder ones though take out Lossiemouth and how strong will the Champion Hurdle be? The exchanges look to be suggesting MDP will be staying over hurdles whilst NS and Sar bring strong 4yo form to the table in a year in which it seems to be working out well.

Champion Chase: Kopek Des Bourdes has been put forward as an option to get onside. Also probably worth considering Kargese who looks a reliable option for jumping and travelling, though equally if IET and KDB turn up then could she go mares chase?

Ryanair: Grey Dawning, Lulamba & Koktail Divin - I think the former is the most reliable. Didn't seem to stay the Gold Cup trip and sets a solid guide to the race. The other two probably hold more potential but Lulamba may go Gold Cup and KD still has something to prove at the highest level.

Mares Hurdle: Wodhooh & Place De La Nation - Not all bookmakers have this race priced up but most of the major ones do. Wodhooh thrives over this C/D but connections could be tempted to step up, though personally think she will be sticking to this trip till beaten. Place De La Nation beat the 2026 Mares Hurdle 1-2 at Punchestown yet is a much bigger price than Wodhooh. Would of found the trip too short in the Mares Novice this year but was the form typical Punchestown end of season form?

Gold Cup - Jango Baie - All fairly quiet on this race. Jango fits the trends well and now proven he stays I would hope he will be put in the race better. Looking at the betting also, if something was to happen to Gaelic Warrior then Jango would immediately jump into a solid favourites chance. He is worth having on side at some point I feel.

I throw things over to you!

…..very good summary @Runragged, given the uncertainty in the division I think I’d be swerving the Supreme myself. GC, CC and Ryanair with most appeal for me.

Looking like these are onboard;

Act of Innocence Ark 20-1 365
Zeus Power Stay 14-1 generally available (16s PP)
Bossman Jack BANC 14-1 general

I’ll vote for KDB who’s 9/2 CC with 365.

Yep, KDB would be my choice as well as I can see him going short should he come out and impress on debut

Jango Baie for me , gold cup ..
Still a fair price ., surely the only race likely .

Without wishing to over complicate the final selection are Fact To File and The Jukebox Man worth consideration of the Ryanair ? For me they are both a level above Kocktail Divin and there is uncertainty about Lulamba target. Apologies if I am adding any unwanted distractions at this stage.

Jango and Mydaddypaddy are the most sensible IMO, as they would likely be FAV if either of the current FAV's are ruled out early, and they are also unlikely to come up against strong irish oppo's till March, you'd think.

Last season - State Man/con Hill and Inotheway/Galopin either missed the race they were Fav's for, or were just shit most of the season.

In fact I'd put both them in and get rid of Bossman Jack or Zeus Power as both are more speculative and the price's not value IMO.

Talking of Zeus, watched Odyssey other day, very decent movie.

From my personal opinion then whilst I agree on their class above Koktail Divin, we know Fact To File is ground dependent whilst I don't think Gold Cup aspirations are out the window either. The Jukebox Man wasn't right in the Gold Cup and so he will be aimed at the race again unless circumstances suggest otherwise. I think he would be better in a Ryanair but as things stand then I imagine he will look to defend the King George before the Gold Cup.

Maybe an idea for a theme for another month? Backing 2nd or 3rd favs against shortish priced favourites?
