JLT Novices 2018

Adrien Du Pont for me

Can't wait for Alan King to come out and defend his jumping...again! He doesn't win this race at the festival for me, he needs the RSA to fall apart, because he's too slow and clumsy over his fences for this race.

I thought that was much much better from Willoughby Court and he would have been tough to pass even if Yanworth would have jumped and travelled better.

Really like him ... I feel like Yanworth can't win at any less than 3m at chelt

I think Yanworth wins if he can jump, but he can't so it's irrelevant, as it's a jumping game! To finish as close as he did to WC despite the errors took some doing. He smashed into one 2 or 3 out.

You know what's coming right, Thistlecrack beats UNWIMH so Yanworth switches back to hurdles for the Stayers', doing a Buveur D'air from last season only different races this time around!

Good performance by the winner there, but should Geraghty have pushed Yanworth more to stay in touch? His jumping probably didn't help, but with a more aggressive ride I think Yanworth could have closed him.

Step up in trip was the making of Yanworth last year. I'm send him for the RSA at the festival, he's got a good engine and the trip will give him longer to recover from any jumping errors

Agreed. The engine is there mind you.

I've topped up on Willoughby Court at 12/1. 3pts

I think that's incredibly fair for a festival winner over the distance who jumped well in the main and best two creditable rivals.

Yanworth will have to go RSA, he wont be winning this. JLT confirmed by trainer and jockey for WC. Impressive enough performance that but I'm still happy to take him on with FO. Send him here Tizzy.

Been pushed to 16/1 Yanworth RSA. Not big enough to tempt me as the target wouldn't be confirmed

I'd rather back him for that than this, mind!

Not that any of that will matter once Finian's Oscar turns up here anyway, as everything else will be beat anyway ;)

On an admittedly tenuous link, Neon Wolf was shorter for the Neptune than Finians was and WC beat NW or at least was close to him even if you think NW was unlucky. I adored NW and would have had him to beat FO on any race any time! .... so because WC beat NW I don't want to be scared of FO .... despite my obvious love of FO now ....

Jesus that was tedious:highly_amused:

Lol I get you mate. And to be fair 12s is very fair - you have convinced me! I've covered my FO plays with WC.
That is me hopefully done with the JLT now.

Barry Geraghty on the beaten Yanworth "The mistakes cost him. He ran a good race. I still felt I had a chance jumping the last. It was a good run, you weren't beaten by a mug."

Must admit I haven't watched the full race yet just the clip on Twitter. Looked like given get too much to do. But illreserve judgement until iv watched the full race.
Already backed WC to a smaller stake at 16s at the start if the season. Must admit I wrote it off after his 1st run . But seems to be live again now.

Hopefully yanworth goes for another 2m4 chase. He's still learning on the job. Being beaten a couple of lengths by last year's neptune winner in a graded race early in your novice chasing career is by no means the end of the world

The 12/1 tempted me in too. I think WC did that comfortably today. He'll be less than half that price on the day. A good performance.

Agree that being beaten by last years Neptune winner isn't bad form and I don't think he should go back over hurdles ... but I'd definitely hope 3m would bring the improvement needed for a festival race

I'd feel I would only be backing WC for place money, provided FO turns up for this, obviously every chance he still takes on the Arkle, but if not FO has some turn of foot that will see WC trailing IMO. Yanworth couldn't get going quick enough for me, FO doesn't have that issue.

Agree with most of that CoD. I still don't think FO runs in this though so make WC a decent bet at the odds.......festival form and all that
