J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

I like champagne classic for this.
Watched all his races back and that of cracking smart and delta work.

I'd have champagne classic in this race. And the other 2 almost certain RSA

I think lots of us have him to win any race, what price did you get in this?

One who hasn't been out yet and we haven't heard much from is Slate House. Initially I thought the Arkle for him, but that is a red hot looking race/market already and looked further into his breeding that pointed me towards this race.

He was put up by either Joe or Colin (can't remember which) as the fastest horse in the yard at some point last season, and for his first 2 races for them you couldn't argue, including a defeat of Supreme winner, Summerville Boy, though the result was easily overturned at the festival, where Slate House fell when not in contention.

He was always thought of as a chaser and indeed was purchased with that in mind, so would struggle to not have him going over fences this season. I have yet been able to find much information on him, and was not included in the Tizzard stable tour either, so can not confirm which route he will take.

Have requested a price for him, so will hopefully have one shortly.

I've backed him for the arkle but with the amount of novice chasers Tizzard has it'll be interesting to see where they all fit in. Vision des Flos, Ainchea, Pingshou and Slate House won't all go for the arkle. I got 50s for the arkle so was worth a punt. 33s or bigger and id be tempted.

I had a quick glance down the betting for this earlier on and must admit if the top 15 in the better I can probably only find 3 who are likely to come here. After yesterday le reichbourg has to be at the top of people’s thoughts after running delta work so close in what I imagine will be an extremely strong form line. Can’t see anything else JP has for the race either.

I had Lostintranslation for this but after this weekend, I’d agree Le Richebourg looks a very lively player.

Agree surely 25-1 is too big this race is wide open.

Black Op entered up on friday, at Exeter in a 2m 3f novice chase.

A little bit of feedback from the Drinmore.

Paul was perfectly placed for the false start but missed the re-start and was nearly brought down at the first. The plan had been to lie handy about 4l off the pace but he ended up 4l behind the whole field! After 3 out he was going nicely but the run petered out halfway up the straight because he'd had to use too much to get in contention. Still plugged on ok for fourth ahead of some decent tools but run the race again and he'd hope to be much closer. He's gone down a pound to 146 which looks like a workable mark.

For the principals, Delta Work won a shade cosily and I'm liking the 16/1 ew any race from a month ago. Personally less convinced by Le Richebourg in a championship race although he'd be of interest in the novice handicap if they can get his mark right.

What are they doing with DDS? setting him up for a handicap?
Surely he should be found a handy beginners chase if they want to build him up..

He may do, I would imagine Black Op may need it too he's a big stamp off a horse be hard pushed to get him well conditioned on the gallops alone.

If they are, it won't lure me in. Ivanovic Gorbatov has enough of my money back and plenty more after winning a Triumph. Fool me once... (and all that)

Fool me once, fool me five times... Usually the case with me :highly_amused:
