Mares Chase maybe without Honey.

...except it hasn’t been backed and remains 33-1 for the Mares Chase. Also, 14-1 from 16-1 in Sky a/r market.

That 25-1 (27-1 with boost) was a decent price, bit disappointed I never noticed it.

Where have you been ?.......was highlighted a number of times on here @ 25's!

Mares Chase maybe without Honey.

I agree that does make her more attractive for the MC than before. But as eggs rightly points out she hasn’t been nibbled at in the race itself. The mares hurdle is a lot less attractive with honey and (probably) BDD in it. We know she’s not good enough for a champion hurdle, her hurdle mark of 157 really leaves very little wiggle room for a handicap - she may get a lower chase rating, could they be looking at the grand annual or the plate for her? That’s a huge leap of faith though and if I can’t see her being competitive in either of those then surely she won’t be in the mares Chase?!

Maybe they’re lining her up for audacious attempt at the cross country.

I definitely don’t mean that.

Maybe Paul’s got the pertemps up his sleeve? Plod along in trials all season get that mark down. Argh that doesn’t sound right either.

Fox hunters?? :highly_amused:

Crikey I’m giving myself a headache. Am definitely giving the old girl too much thought but I just cannot see the logic behind her being cut for any race :dejection:

Think she'll go the boring route that all these good Mares go. Back over hurdles. Probably handicap in her case. Coral Cup maybe. Clearly they are worth more when retired and breeding so maybe that's why they avoid chasing and go easy/less gruelling route. Can't think of anything worse that watching Honey/Benie in the crappy Mares Hurdle again. We'll never see the likes of Dawn Run again. Luckily I saw her live winning her Churdle and GC. Money talks these days.

I might be one of the very few people who have nibbled at her EW at 33/1 on bet365. Season before last she was always talked up as a chaser in the making and a nice big mare, in my opinion Paul will keep her over fences. Just can’t see her going back over hurdles be that handicap or to take on honey and Benie. It’s a huge leap of faith to ignore last seasons problems, which Is my thinking on this one and rolling back to her mares novice hurdle and champion hurdle days. If Paul gets her jumping and back to winning a race the price will tumble. I can see it being a case of how did we miss that price and one that would annoy me if I didn’t take the chance. If I’m wrong and she goes a different route or has issues again then I just cash out, I won’t be losing much with her odds already being so high.

With the potential of honey, Benie and Put the kettle on ignoring the race it’s not hard to imagine her winning or at least placing.

It’s a Shot next to nothing I’m willing to punt on

I totally agree and nothing really to lose at the price, Will. If PFN can find the key to her then she's a great bet. She has the residual class to win a grade 2 chase and would hammer a horse like Salsaretta at her best.

I can't see much downside to the 33/1, with cash out available.

I think the most likely is Nicholls will get her a mark over fences and work from there. I expect her to turn up in either the Grand Annual or The Plate.

I think we need to take into account what we have learnt re these good Mares......chasing is the least likely route as connections want to cover them in cotton wool. Honey's connections have bottled it, Benie has bottled it and I doubt Laurina will be any different. Boring I know but sadly true. Hurdles all the way

I’m inclined to agree with you here. The major difference between Bennie honey and laurina is laurina is the the only horse not to have won a grade 1. I wonder if that had any sway in her move to Paul Nichols? She’d have more chance of winning a grade 1 over here than over in Ireland. The fighting fifth this year for example was a very winnable race. Conversely, with the Clarence house chase being so close to Cheltenham that too would be more winnable than any grade one chase in Ireland.

There has to be a chance that Cheltenham will only be an after thought.

Will give Laurina the same treatment i gave Altior in winning last seasons King George or Gold cup.
IT WONT HAPPEN !!!

You probably are now, yeah, I backed her early doors for it at 33's, then cashed out the other day with the news she'd gone to Paul, but now thinking I was a little hasty, that said it's still available so can go back in if need be still :encouragement:
