Handicap Shortlist - Cheltenham 2020

Its All Guesswork is a very interesting entry from Gordon, qualified last year but didnt make the cut? Hes obviously checking out his english rating too. Needs a few pound though!

If I remember right Glenloe made the cut the year before he eventually ran in the final.

I looked at his running comments from his previous pertemps qualifier this morning.
Made for amusing reading.

Waited with in rear, last at halfway, progress going well after 4 out, not fluent 3 out and next, soon pushed along in 8th and progress before last where left 4th, ran on, nearest finish (stewards inquired into running and riding; jockey stated that his mount had taken a heavy fall last time and he was instructed today to ride him towards the rear of the field, get him jumping, get his confidence back, creep away into the race and get him home; he added his mount did not travel well early on but his jumping kept him with the field; he explained that he was squeezing his mount turning out of the back straight, he made mistakes at the 3rd last and 2nd last hurdles and without resorting to the whip he felt that his mount stayed on well past tired horses and was gifted third place by the fall of Choungaya; in his opinion he rode as strong as possible using hands and heels; trainer confirmed instructions and stated that his charge stood in its stable for six to eight weeks after his fall last time to allow for an injury at the back of his knee to heal; he added that he ran his charge over hurdles to regain his confidence but going forwards he held entries in both hurdles and chases; in his opinion his charge handles all ground descriptions except the extremes and would need to race over a trip; he expressed his satisfaction with the ride and the manner in which his charge had jumped; the stewards also received a report from the vet who stated that gelding was coughing post race; samples were taken for analysis; the stewards noted the explanations) (op 9/1 tchd 8/1)

I remember Gordon saying somewhere about Glenloe "its been a year long plan" obviously he didnt win but the plan nearly come off.

I can just see Gordon and Philip Reynolds sitting in the A Team van plotting the next years Pertemps winner with Its All Guesswork, "Dont worry Phil I`ll throw em all off with The Storyteller but get Davy to jump ship" chugging away on his foot long cigar " I love it when a plan comes together!"

Haha that's great research.

I'm all aboard this train already.

Is he priced up anywhere?

Love this :encouragement:

Out of interest does Davy Russell ride for Phillip Reynolds? Be interesting if he does jump ship?

I dont think hes good enough to win. But I see the case and how he could be popular. May even place if he gets in off a very light weight and runs.

Highly unlikely. You'd jump ship off the storyteller to ride it's all guesswork.

I don't think Reynolds has enough horses for that to be "a thing".

I'm sure Davy could ride literally any of his horses if he wanted to....but I don't think he'll want to :)

Might be worth asking for a price then with an entry?

Nothing to lose really.

Should get 33's any race I reckon.
Was gambled on for Kim Muir last year till a drift on the day (sure I backed it at 25's or bigger)

Most firms seem to price up Pertemps horses once they have qualified, or at the least been confirmed runners in a qualifier.

The other option is to request them to add a horse to the betting for the race.

Zero ten. Is 142. They must be happy with that with the nov handicap chase in mind.
Was a gentle return to say the least behind cashback

Needs another run, but
Hopefully he dosent get slapped with 4.

It really was, not knocked about at all when chance gone. Classy horse too.

I had a decent bet on Cash Back sunday and that one was worrying me in the last mile as it travelled really well.
I'm going to watch it again as the angle changed and it was hard to see how he finished and I was obviously watching the winner more closely.
Zero Ten, jumped a bit right but is unexposed for sure and has gone off favourite for most of his races and got a very good win record.
142 might underestimate him, but would want to know he'd travel over too.

A NRNB option for sure.

How many points did you win, Q?

The issue i think. Galway mark to save etc. Would seem mad and hopefully they aren't that mad.

Eldorado Allen now 152 (+7). That’s going to be tough for the Betfair handicap if they do go that route.

Given his entry in the 2M5F Lanzarote Hurdle on Saturday, I have asked for a price on Pic D'Orhy (OR 146) for the Coral Cup. 40/1 B365 (with cashback potential).

Can't believe they've come up with 40's HF... top work! Just had a decent go at that myself. Lets hope for a nice run and a 4th or 5th placed finish to put him spot on for this.
