Anyone got any word for anything due to run Friday at Cheltenham ?

I've just been through the decs, after picking out some on entries.

I'm expecting the ground to worsen to Soft at best by the time they start the first. 🤞
So stamina and fitness should come into play. I've gambled on that in any case.

The ones that caught my eye at the prices

Crooked Path 10-1 1-15
Wondering Why 6-1 2-25
Traprain Law 8-1 3-35

I like Crooked Path coming off a recent win, looks still well handicapped and should be fitter than most and go on the softer ground.

Wondering Why should also like the ground and even it's heavy defeat at Warwick in the spring reads well given the weights and subsequent form. The win at Warwick after that also looks solid form as a few have won and gone up since.

Traprain Law is a bit of a punt based mainly on the likely ground and most of the others preferring better ground, like Calico who he's significantly better off with, based on when they met last year (10lb plus 7lb claim), he may have more stamina than most of the others. Lucinda had a good day at Hexham recently with a couple of wins and a place and the dual purpose amateur jockey looks very useful with 4 wins in his last 6.

Obviously wary of how fit they all are vs the competitors and also what the trainers are looking towards over the season etc.
Won't be going mad, that's for sure.
Calico been specifically trained to win the race on Friday for a 3rd year running. That's a huge plus. No other horse will be as fit as him. Tizzards are in great form but 12 stone in testing conditions will surely prove too much.

What is going on with the ground at Cheltenham? From Tony Calvin on X:

They finished their 10-15mm cycles of watering on Sunday. Since Monday they've had 59mm. Ground is now officially described as good-soft, good in places - and, after 19mm overnight, the morning going stick is 6.3 from 6.2 yday.

Seems crazy to me how the going is quicker than yesterday. Cheltenham already drained really well but the work over the summer looks to have improved it!

Lovely to see class prevail
No bet, but I did enjoy that

Any strong fancies at Cheltenham today?

I'm going to take a flyer on an old favorite of mine - O'Moore Park. It's probably heart of head, as leaving the Mullins stable can't be seen as anything but a negative, but he has been dropped a 7 lb since finishing 6th in the Plate. He also ran with credit in the Topham, finishing 7th, where he pretty much lost any chance at the start.

The new stable ran him over an inadequate trip lto that run is easily ignored. Sean Bowen rides today.

He's a big price and could be hopeless, but i can't resist at the price.

Found it harder to spot value prices on this card
But obviously backed a few
Moon rocket other day
Managed to get on twistons early this morning
Then I’ve gone irish
Newbrook diamond & butch Cassidy

I almost backed Moore park on Thursday but held off as wasn’t sure on its price as it was 20-1 at time
I think I’ll back it myself as keighley had a couple run wall yesterday

I think i might double the two irish you've backed. Like them both.

Oooh, yes, I agree. Keighley loves to target this meeting and had a winner and a 2nd from 3 runners here yesterday (The exception was 50/1). Last run looks to have been a prep in a small field over an unsuitable 2m trip. I've backed him e/w at 20/1 but also playing him as a roll up. Currently 19/10 for a top 4 finish. It's a good looking race but this horse is running off a fair bit lower than last season and considering he stays well then can see him holding out for a place.

For reference I also like Uncle Bert in the 2:55. He goes very well fresh, yard form fine and think there is more to come from him. Fan of Katate Dori also, who hasn't fulfilled the potential he has shown but suspect the Thomas horses are needing a run and this may have bigger targets. Wary of Here Comes Georgie. First run for Skelton and having had wind operation sets off alarm bells! Finally at Cheltenham am chancing La Luna Artiste in 3:30. Too much can be made on 4yo form, horses beat in better grades and then just not improving for the summer break. I think LLA is the most open to improving and this stiffer race should suit more having got outpaced over 2m on good around Sandown.

Also noting Myretown going at Kelso in the 3:50. Disappointed last season but this looks a very good opportunity to bully inferior opposition, carrying over a stone more in weight than the other three runners. Much easier race than he faced all last season and handicapper relinquished a little bit. 5/4 was forecast but out to 13/8 looks reasonable.

I'm no expert , but I'd say the strong winds are drying the ground up ..??.
