…..went for 15 years or so on the spin with pals, wall-to-wall Guinness in Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square. Highly recommended if you’re not too bothered about your liver.
Do I not like Guinness 🤮

i emailed Mark Howard about OJA publishing date

Hi John

Thank you for your email. OJA due to be published second half of September. I will be updating my website shortly with full details.

Kind Regards

Mark
How did they do last year? Any early big priced winners? Anyone keep records?

@BuckingThe Trend is down to do the October Yankee.Would he like to do the OJA Yankee? Or im more than happy to let BTT to do the December and i do the Oct?

….see what he says but I wouldn’t be overly bothered about timing of OJA Yankee. If you end up doing the selections at some point in October it won’t really matter.

I see Endorsement, who is fav for the Ballyroan tonight, has been bought by JP and sent to JOB. Be a very highly rated flat horse if they send him down the Triumph Hurdle route! An interesting move from Coolmore and AOB to JP and JOB if he's not heading over jumps...

Appreciate he's not the sexy french type and Wooton Basset wouldn't be anyone's favourite national hunt site

Was always a sucker for a highly rated flat horse heading over obstacles, an interesting one this.

Is there anywhere I can find a confirmed fixture list for the British and Irish jumps season? Or is that not fully confirmed yet? Thank you.

Due any day, it's usually first week of August.
Interesting that Trials Day was scheduled to be run on the same day as DRF, whether that's been changed I have no idea...

I seen a post from Liam Firkin I think it was on X, saying that he was informed by jockey club that, that clash will be happening.

I've had this discussion/argument with some Irish friends.

There's no dispute that Trials Day is the last weekend in January. It had always been my assumption that the DRF was the first weekend in February. However, my Irish friends claim that it's the weekend before the first February Bank Holiday Monday which, in 2027, is 1st February. Given that it only started in 2018 (compared to 2006 for Trials Day), I think it's fairly arrogant of the Irish to assume that Cheltenham should move their fixture.

That's generally been the case although last year was run on 24th Jan so technically could have gone for the following weekend, but last year was an early festival (10-13 March), 2027 festival has moved back a week (16-19 March) so Sat 30th Trials Day for 2027 makes sense.
It'll be a great Saturday for armchair viewers but I suspect attendance at HQ might suffer...
