Hope everyone is enjoying the summer break…

Quick question re accounts - since the last festival + royal ascot, most of my accounts have been closed or heavily restricted.

Im at the point where I want to start building for next march and also have a few flat ap bets too.

Is it as simple, as setting up accounts in my wife’s name, and depositing via her card. Will the address / surname etc raise any red flags? Can I access the new account via my phone or would IP address mean that this isn’t doable? Am I better going to WhatsApp books / black market?!

Apologies as these are v basic questions but last thing I want to do is tie the usual antepost funds up and then not get paid out for any reason (prob optimistic )

There's ways around it by opening accounts in friends/family names as long as they live at a different address, but they also have to be willing to provide proof of ID and likely a bill or two for proof of address. Certainly some of the pros used to pay students for their details to use, though this did result in an infamous case with Bet365 when a 19yo student 'placed' almost £25k in bets involving a combination of horses in Lucky 15s, winning just over £1m but Bet365 refused to pay alleging that the bets were funded by a third party, against their T&C.

If most of your accounts have been closed or heavily restricted then opening up more accounts will just see the same thing happen anyway! You need to change how you are getting your bets on. Either more bets/smaller stakes, using shops or if you really want to risk it then black market. May also have to consider the use of exchanges to get money on as another option. I also think it is worth having the odd 'muggy' acca on the account and play a little bit of slots just so it flags up as you use the casino etc. All helps to disguise it. Gone are the days though when you could place all your bets through the one betting company without questions being asked!

Cash is king …..for now anyway! Forget the accounts just use the shops and pretend it’s 1980 again. Hills and ladbrokes both have ante post on their terminals so no need to deal with idiots trying to get a price on a horse

Just wanted to say a few words about King Kev, been a sad few hrs. My boyhood hero, and still is. Day after the World Cup final and the horrific way the way those raggie Argies play the game only makes me more more nostalgic for the way Ken got our players playing. May not of won anything but it was thrilling. Seemed a lovely bloke, prone to having the odd strop, but comes with his idealistic nature. But what enthusiasm, a great miss.
Did you ever play against him Eggs? Any stories or reflections?

Just wanted to say a few words about King Kev, been a sad few hrs. My boyhood hero, and still is. Day after the World Cup final and the horrific way the way those raggie Argies play the game only makes me more more nostalgic for the way Ken got our players playing. May not of won anything but it was thrilling. Seemed a lovely bloke, prone to having the odd strop, but comes with his idealistic nature. But what enthusiasm, a great miss.
Did you ever play against him Eggs? Any stories or reflections?

….he was at Liverpool when I was there, indeed we joined at about the same time but I was only a youngster and can’t pretend to have truly known him.

In those days a bus took players from Anfield to the training ground, Melwood, and would return after. One thing I distinctly remember about Kevin Keegan was the return journey was often delayed because he insisted on signing autographs. A few of the older pros were a bit annoyed but I always thought he took the game to a new era.

He was cosmopolitan, he sought the move abroad and made the absolute most of what he had both on the pitch and off it. I always liked him, it was impossible not to.

I met him once at Nottingham racecourse back in 1985. I'd placed my bet and was stood in the stands when up he came,said hello do you mind if I stand here with you for a bit I'm getting a bit lonely! No said I, has anyone told you you look just like... ? We'd backed the same horse and we cheered it home and talked about Oh So Sharp's chances of winning the Oaks and racing in general before he was spotted and drew a large crowd asking for his autograph. My uncle Bert who I'd gone with said who was that you were with,he seems popular. Kevin Keegan I replied. Work with him do you? he replied. No he's a very famous footballer I told him. Never heard of him said Bert,who'd never followed the beautiful game.
It was an unforgettable 20 minutes or so, felt like I'd known him all my life,an absolute gent. A lovely bloke has left the building.

Lovely words Eggs, not surprised about the taking time with fans. He used to live up my road when he was a player and talked to him on a few occasions, usually when he was taking his daughter for a walk in the pram. Was mindful that he was probably just enjoying some time to himself, so never told him how much I thought of him, just talked about general stuff. Regret it now. But I hope he picked up the respect I had for him. Sorry still starry eyed when it comes to him.
