What's everyone's thoughts on a 2027 prices thread or does the suggestion of that warrant me to do the walk of shame like cersei lannister..
Do it, we've always had a thread for next years races when prices are up (y)

I've been looking at them today. I am in the annual battle with myself of whether to go around again or not, left it 2 months too late this year and was playing catch up. I think if you are doing it, you have to start the day after Gold Cup day but those early prices are pretty underwhelming and have left me in a pickle again. I've been working on 2027 this weekend, got 56 horses written down 😭😞😂 (14 of those are in the BANC) but that's how it always starts, and that will grow. Finding the value before Aintree always yields my best results but that is also dependent on how Cheltenham goes. They would have to be pretty nailed on targets too. I don't mind taking 5/1 for Kopek Des Bordes say, for the 2027 Champion Chase if he wins the Arkle but would only play small stakes on everything until the spring festivals have all finished. If I go around again I have one horse I am going to be quietly chipping away at and that's Kaid D'Authie for the Gold Cup win or lose at Cheltenham. I think he is a proper one and will improve out of sight next season.

With you on this one, 33's is tough to ignore, I'm trying but I think festival week I'll relent and get a few onside.

I'd say this has to be the worst time to start.
If you are wanting one of this years BANC horses for the 2027 Gold Cup the time to get on is before the BANC, the problem is few bookies price this up and in recent years their offerings have been pretty dismal, but if your selection wins the BANC their price will be shorter still after the race.
It's not easy and you need a hell of alot of luck to do OK, but taking a flyer might be the better option....

After Cheltenham last year I backed Sir Gino for the champion chase, Brighterdaysahead for the mares chase and the Yellow Clay for the arkle. All stayed over hurdles 🤡. This year think I might just throw some money into a physical gold ETF and back some horses at a discount come October.

Yeah this is my main issue Ista. I have no access to the firms offering early prices or i would absolutely take this approach. I have to take my medicine and wait until the shops start pricing up.

From memory Paddy Power priced up early and they have a few shops dotted around.
Didn't someone say Bet365 had a shop in Stoke ?
Other than that, you need a few mates....

I think the there's value in basically backing horses who disappoint over the coming months. But are horses you are convinced are good and there's a valid reason for the poor showing, like just tired at the end of a long season.

Gordon's horses for example are usually ready earlier than Willie's and can be running out of petrol by the time punchestown comes around or even aintree. Romeo, brighterdaysahead, yellow clay for example were all disappointing at those festivals and big prices after the runs, if you were confident in they're ability and thought they were just running on empty then they were good prices.

Kopek flopped at punchestown too and was 9/1 arkle post race. Chances are he didn't go bad overnight and that was a good price. Salvator was 50/1 arkle post cheltenham too after patrick riding him and then cut significantly after winning at aintree with paul back on. Kitzbuhel 50/1 browns too after being too keen at aintree.

Couple of those haven't turned out great but you get the jist. There can be overreactions that time of year to horses underperforming.

The only one you really got wrong there though was The Yellow Clay. The other two should have been going for those races but for injury. At this stage, i would only do horses i was very confident on their targets rightly or wrongly. Old Park Star looks a nailed on Arkle type, Romeo Coolio would be a heavy favourite for the Ryanair as would Lulamba then there are other categories like Selma De Vary, I would have small nibbles on her for the Mares Hurdle and Champion Hurdle and wait, then plodders like Kazansky who look like they would love a trip over a fence. I am happy enough to get more info from Cheltenham 2026 and then plan from there. There are also horses that would drop off being in contention next year like Con Hill (again) Quilixios, Galopin etc.

I see it as a secondary full time job :ROFLMAO:

Chuck El Carios for the Champion Hurdle into the mix there, not going to be a chaser, think his hurdling will be fully tested in march, but the experience he'll gain during the spring will put him strongly into the mix, OPS - Arkle written all over him, even has that Altior head carriage, gallop about him, I'm stopping now...still got this year to sort out 😆

Yeah a few races have the natural progression you can be pretty sure they’ll be aimed at the following year-arkle-qmcc banc-GC etc but I agree that you’ll need to be on before this years fez to get a price as it’ll defo shorten if they win/ run well

There will also be the option of win today and next year. I got Bambino Fever at 40/1 last year, some specials are already up on sky I know that.

Early prices this year weren't that bad vs previous in my opinion, Kopeks price vs Shishkin was nearly double for example, Jasmin Du Vaux was double digits after winning the AB too.
