Been my weekend in work this week so catching up on storys. Just read on the RP site that a pint of Guinness is going up by 30p to £7.80 at Cheltenham. Really is a piss take when you see them say value for money is the key to Cheltenham changes!

Support the DRF instead. Much better value by the sound of it and they are actively trying to make it an enjoyable and value for money experience for working class punters.Unlike The Jockey Club who seem intent on wringing every ounce of profit out of a longstanding institution and putting very little back.

Gavin Cromwell re:- Flooring Porter

The Cleeve Hurdle and the Grand National are among the options under consideration for Flooring Porter following his brilliant display in the Kerry National.

Gavin Cromwell’s dual Stayers’ Hurdle hero secured his biggest victory over fences to date in last week’s Listowel feature, galloping his rivals into submission from the front.

With a tilt at the world’s most famous steeplechase at Aintree in April under serious consideration, Cromwell could look to campaign his stable star back over the smaller obstacles in the meantime, with the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January identified as a possible target.

Where and when Flooring Porter will run before the new year is up in the air, with his trainer keen to assess all opportunities before finalising plans.

“He’s come out of it good, obviously it was great to see him the way he did and it’s a lovely race to win. It’s all right making these plans, but trying to execute them is never simple,” said Cromwell.

“We’ll look at the Cleeve Hurdle and possibly the Grand National after that. I haven’t done any more thinking about it or made any more plans, so that’s where we are at the moment.

“It’s a long time from now until the Cleeve Hurdle and if we could find a race for him between now and then, that would be great. We’ll scour the calendar in Ireland and England see what we can come up with.

“He’s gone up a stone for winning the other day, which takes him to 163. He’s going to have a lot of weight in the National already, so it’s a difficult one as do you jeopardise going up even further by running well in a big race somewhere?

“We’re in bonus territory at this stage and we’ve been in it for a while!”

I think the JC are on record saying they have to rinse everyone at Cheltenham to fund other courses who can't be profitable, I don't have a strong view whether this is right or not but I'd hate for the Fontwells and Sedgefields of the NH circuit to disappear if that's the alternatve.
The bigger issue as I've been saying for a while is the way racing is funded, bookmakers are far more to blame that the JC, if bookmakers accommodated, or even partially accommodated punters who want to bet then the pot would be much bigger and pints might not be 8 quid at Cheltenham...

Definitely Good Value , the D.R.F ., Been for the last two Years , missing it next Feb , because it clashes with the Six Nations , So Prices are inflated . **.
** Flights , Hotels .. , But will definitely go again , Even got tipped the Grand National Winner in a Pub in Dublin last time were there .!! . :welcoming: .

I wrote to Cheltenham membership team and asked what 'value' and 'customer experience' improvements are planned for members, the customers who support the course all year. They've said there is the potential for a price freeze for members on 25/26 renewals.
Memberships went up £25 for 24/25, around 5%, so while they're creating all sorts of incentives for paying customers members are being largely ignored/forgotten.
Looks like the sockless coke head brigade have the power now...

Hope it’s informative and entertaining. I’m not too sure the Ferguson offering this year was terribly useful

Been up since 3am so been indulging in Youtube. The Final Furlong podcast have done an interview with Tom Malone explaining his process on buying horses and talking about some horses in training that he has sourced. Would recommend this. It's a fascinating watch.

It’s a good watch/listen isn’t it. I understand why some despise him, but I don’t mind Emmet’s podcasts. He gets good guests and gets good conversations going. Granted he loves the sound of his own voice and his delivery grates at times.

OJA has landed, some belting stuff as ever. There's one for the MNH that'll likely be getting a haircut soon enough.

I'm hoping that mine will be on my doormat when I get home...... :onthego:

I managed to somehow order 2 and can’t return - so If anyone wants to purchase one there’s one going cheap on eBay that I’ve just listed!
