Foxhunters 2019

Interesting Barry o Neil riding ucello conti in a hunters chase tomorrow
Derek o Connor riding another horse in the same race
I read into that that o Connor won’t be riding ucello conti at Cheltenham
Another plus for stand up and fight,I hope

UC surely far too short tomorrow. Laying that all day long

Are we going to see a three time winner this year. I think I can look at newcomers to the game as much as u want, but it does seem to be the same horses coming back year after year. Realise this hasn't always been the case, but it certainly feels that way.

The newcomers are different class this year. Beating horses that don't get beat in this sphere. First time they've had a proper go at it. They'll be the highest rated horses that have ever ran in it. And stand up And fight is a young progressive horse who could even be one for next years onwards if he's done by the likes of shantou flyer.. this year

It's not the same case as burning ambition last year his form was nothing special

Would not want to put anyone off pasha du polder, admiral horse
However,he is 12 now and there does appear to be some classy recruits to the hunters division this year
Would be surprised if at least one of them could not turn him over

No runs since wouldn't fill me with confidence for Pacha Du Polder.

I hate the fact an unknown jockey won it last year too. I dislike the horse, and dislike anyone that has backed it. Lazy gambling, awful horse.

:highly_amused::devilish:

Are they going to change the name soon? Advocating Fox Hunting isn't smart, or right.

Hopefully your comments about hating anyone who backed it and lazy punting are tongue in cheek...As I disagree. Having watched Victoria Pendleton achieving 5th every easily (any other jockey would have won and I challenge you to watch the replay and tell me if you don't agree) it was plain to see that PDP was a very good jumper (precisely why they gave it to (VP). So when PDP became the mount the following year of the stables up and coming conditional jockey it became in my eyes an obvious stand out chance. A very similar pattern of preparation and intentions was repeated last year, which I once again followed as returning winners have a good record in this race. I admit I wasn't inspired by Harriet Tuckers first run on PDP but she came good when it mattered. So I for one have 2 profitable results thanks to PDP. I don't think he will win again this year as probably too old but the horse ran well for the past 3 years and deserves some credit and respect.

...notice Gwencily Berbas running against Ucello Conte in this afternoons Hunter Chase.

This time last year Gwencily Berbas gave weight and a beating to Stand up and Fight in a novice chase at Naas. A few years ago GB also ran a respectable race in the Fred Winter.

You guys are much more knowledgable than me, but could GB be a runner in this, Hills are one of the few bookmakers to have him priced up at 40-1?

I added him to hills and any race. Mentioned him further back. Form of his hunter chase is good. Depends what he does today whether I'll be backing him or not.

I would agree with you there Norton's who , Like you ,I have backed P.D.P the last two years , and in one of my
my multi's this year ,A Lazy Awful Bet :highly_amused:. But i really think Stand up & fight will win .

PN managed to get Earthmover back into shape to win this race at the ripe old age of 13 so who's to say he can't do something similar with PDP. Also PDP on the face of it has better form in this race than E did.

Earlier there was some discussion about timing comparisons between races for UC. If you like a bit of nostalgia along these lines then look on YouTube foe sizing John versus PDP 2017. The Gold Cup and Foxhunters run over same C&D and on the same ground and day are shown side by side. I won't say who wins...

I think Ucello would probably have won even if GB hadn't taken a fall. Not sure about the form - all in a bit of a heap at the last. Stand Up and Fight can stand quietly in his box and wait for the big day. I think Stand Up at 6/1 and Ucello at 7/1 is wrong. I'd have the former much shorter than the Elliott horse myself.

Yep, they were a bit close really when you consider they were pretty much all out in front. Although pace of race may have flattered those in behind maybe (if they went steady enough).
Think SUAF and Shantou Flyer look good for this race.

Don't think he hit it hard. Carried on running after it.

UC won’t be winning this race.... can’t believe SUAF not cut still....

Caid Du Berlais?

Looked at it properly, Backed ucello conti 8.68/1 very happy with that and now done.
Watched the race back, Hed have won. Barry oneil on board . Will love the trip. Form of his 2 ptp races are absolutely rock solid. Confirmed and gies straight to chelt.

If shantou flyer dosent win tomorrow UC will shorten. His price is more than fair. Hopefully shantou flyer can do the business. Happy with my hand here though.
