April Yankee added.

Big thanks to Sax for his efforts on this pre and post Punchestown. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say his input is very much appreciated.

Hear Hear , from Me. :loyal:.

….MoM, you might want to consider Hills as the best firm for the August Yankee.

Are they a better price? Oddschecker wasn’t showing them for whatever reason

…yes, I think they’re quite a bit better & they are all on Oddschecker but there’s one typo.

If you look at Three Striped Life on Oddschecker it appears as if Hills aren’t quoted but they actually are a little further up @ 12-1 under ‘Three Strip Life’. So, Hills are 2 points shorter on that but 4 points bigger for Stattler and 8 points better for Langer.

Hills
Jet Powered 16-1
TSL 12-1
Langer 33-1
Stattler 20-1

i think the acca is 157,793-1.

i have just checked Hills & those prices are still accurate.

Chemical Energy (NHC) 10-1
Old Victoria (TH) 40-1
American Mike (AB) 9-1

Prices with 365.

Thanks Eggs. Not like me to miss a Yankee deadline entirely but had a lot going on here to sort out. Much appreciated

Pink in the Park 33-1 MNH

February added. Also added January as I realised I’d somehow not done so until now.

Not been a brilliant year for Yankees looking at what we’ve got to go but you could argue the May one for Mullins still has a fair crack of getting us a profit on the year again.

….nice double today for the May Yankee goes some way to covering the lot.

Just the 48/1 and 87/1 doubles to make it yet another year of these Yankees making a profit.

If nobody objects, I’m happy going again for year 6

….I’m sure I speak for others in being delighted you’ll be facilitating these again. Won’t be long until the first.

Good to read you are up for running these again :encouragement:.

I wonder though could we do something different for at least the summer months - June, July, August?
We don't have that much info at that stage compared to later in the year unless someone has heard something from inside one of the stables.

I was reading Saxon Warrior 's recent point in his diary about doing less Cheltenham multiples antepost and trying to get a Cheltenham fancy doubled with something winning from earlier in the year, in essence a roll up going into Cheltenham.

We could do likewise for those summer Yankees where info is thin on the ground but where we can use either the big summer flat/jumps festivals for perhaps two selections and add them to two Cheltenham 2024 selections to make a Yankee.

The ideal scenario would be we have two winners/places locked in already before Cheltenham even starts.

We can then revert back to four Cheltenham picks from September onwards if need be, or keep using this 2+2 format if we manage to have any success with it, as there's various others national hunt meetings we can use in the run up to find winners.

I know it's changing what we've always done but sometimes it's at least worth asking the question and see what people think.

We also need to be wary for the Gordon Elliott Yankee in November as he changed up his methods in 2022 where his weren't firing on all cylinders at that meeting. Envoi Allen was the only Down Royal winner to win at Cheltenham, with Magical Zoe, Letsbeclearaboutit, Mighty Potter, Conflated and Pied Piper placing. So it isn't just Gordon using that meeting now for his horses, may need to consider likes of Henry and Gavin.

Happy to hear what other people think :encouragement:

Great idea That Horse

Very similar to what I do through the summer

The form of horses and knowledge of those races, opponents etc is so much easier for me to get a handle on than 4 Festival Winners in a multi in June Or July with race specific targets known for each

Personally I would find this hugely valuable. My knowledge of flat racing is marginal, but I’d appreciate the education, would be a bit of fun, and would definitely help get some of the horses I want to in the book before the prices start to erode over the summer.

That sounds good to me for at least one of the summer months when, as you rightly say, there is very little to go on and I have to be somewhat inventive for that months theme.

….I suggest we keep the Yankees through the summer. It’s not a case of one or the other, if That Horse suggestion is popular, then we can introduce it as an additional service.
