Day 1 - Tuesday - Royal Ascot 2020

Hi All, first post, love the forum, seems to be a great community. I don’t pretend to be as knowledgeable as most of you but I’ll do my best to add to the mix of views (although I won’t be a prolific poster, I’ll chip in where I can). My picks for today are as follows:

1:15 Daarik @ 7/1. Bit of a lazy pick to be honest, I have to ration my time and it’s looks a tricky one to start the week, and a Gosden / Dettori potential improver seemed as good a place to start as any.
1:50 Terebellum @ 14/1. Looks a good bet on paper but will only be a good bet if she wins. Race fit, showed plenty of speed at Newmarket, I think she’ll run a big race.
2:25 and 3:00 Frankly Darling / Mogul double @ 4/1. I was originally on Born with Pride for the 2:25 (and will probably back her in the Queens Vase), with her missing this race both the favs look the most likely winners to me, so I’ve doubled them up as I think others on here have done.
3:35 Battaash @ 5/1 and @ 3/1. Hope he wins.
4:10 Lavenders Blue @ 13/2. Concerns with the ground but ran well enough on good to soft in the Sun Chariot I thought and I think most of the other principles would also be slightly concerned about the ground (with the exception of Wasmya who I respect but think has a bit to find)
4:40 No bet yet but tending towards Blue Laureate.

Best of luck to you all.

If Terebellum wins the Group 1 Queen Anne (currently 10/3f) then Queen Power at 4/1 is going to be backed into fav in that race surely (a group 2?)

Just seen Kealy mention that formline.

Wish I'd spotted that before they both got backed in so much :highly_amused:

Tbh its the lack of star gazing and time they dedicate to fashion etc that I'm really looking forward to this year. Boils my piss when they elect to cover floral patterns on dresses 10 mins before a Group 1 rather than actually talking about the horses.

Guaranteed they still have some sort of fuck about with the fashion.

Gok Wan in his lounge with high heels on or summat like that.

Just place laid Jubiloso!

Not a strong day for me on betting opportunities today.

LAND OF OZ in the 2M4F Handicap would probably be the pick for me today.

Welcome and good luck.

Certainly hope you have an excellent day from this point on

Pleased with Shelir there running on into a place at 40s. Off to a decent start.

Ebury just missing out on a place, well 6th, as some were paying, but never clarified that on here so can't take it!

Daarik the big disappointment, and a bit win for the bookmakers I'd imagine!

Just added 0.5pt each way Fox Chairman, also each way doubled Terebellum with Queen Power.

Yeah - he's just got all my Bless Him loses back and some.

The ground looked quite slow there.

Jim Crowley said it rode like the slow side of good - his was a top of the ground horse and handled it well. They were strung out though weren't they!

Did anyone do the placepot?

Only realised that the handicaps are only first 3 places, regardless if they are over 15 runners. My two finished 4th and 5th!

Funnily enough I did one today for the first time in ages! I'm still in as I stuck the winner in to go alongside Shelir and Keyser Soze. Only 1 per race from here though and left out every favourite.

The 3 places thing is apparently because it's pooled internationally for Royal Ascot week and had to align with international ways.

Looked like Dettori stopped riding a little bit there

13:50 - Queen Anne (Group 1)
Accidental Agent 130/1 (4 places) 0.5 pts e/w and free bet at 40.0
Mohaather 14/1 (4 places) - 1 pts e/w
Billesdon Brook 25/1 (4 places) 1 pt e/w - couldn't help it.

Confidence levels - 3/10:highly_amused:

Of course, 5th for Accidental Agent :highly_amused:

I wouldn't have said Aidan's quote were uber positive on him being really ready for today. I still suspect he will be ready!

He has form on ground with a little give so i don't think it should be a massive concern?

Never in doubt :highly_amused:
