Cheltenham Gold Cup 2020

A big run from Chris's Dream in the Irish Gold Cup and he has an EW chance here at 33s. Surely only comes here if he runs a big race and if he does run a big race, he'll surely be cut. 160p at the moment so it just depends what he is capable of (Al Boum and Anibal Fly were rated 164 last year). Lots of surelys and maybe's, but the cash out makes it more appealing.

Don't know where i got this from, but didn't Henry say he is best fresh? Surely a run at the DRF ruins the fresh angle for the GC

A horse that often goes under the radar in Gold Cup discussions, I know the NTD yard think the world of the horse.
Two previous failed efforts on decent ground would be a concern but if it were to come up deep you know his price would be a fraction of that 50/1.
I'm still of the view this is an above average renewal which should discount horses that have previously failed (Kemboy aside for obvious reasons) but a 50/1 poke can't be knocked...

FWIW worth I think the 50/1 is a cracking bet and ill be having some of that as well.

I agree I backed him around this time last year at the same price he's definitely overlooked.

Yes HdB thinks Chris’s Dream runs better fresh, and didn’t entertain running over Christmas after his win on 24th November.

Looks like entries for Irish Gold Cup and Cheltenham Gold Cup made in the last week, and the gap between those races is just under 6 weeks (40 days) which could be long enough to run in both.

I’ve backed Chris’s Dream to win the Gold Cup on the exchanges as some nice layers offered 310, 300, 290 etc, which I took what I could, when I could all the way down to 100.

I’m not concerned with running at DRF and then six weeks later. The horse is a year older than his close-together disappointing runs last spring, and has had only one race so far this season. He did win a Grade 2 Chase last Feb off a three week gap, but then the trainer ran him twice more which is when his form dipped.

Can see your logic ,purely on last years run nothing else he got E/W chance.

So the next trials are the following. Guys - can you help with missing horses in this list?

Cheltenham Betbright Trial Cotswold Chase Santini/LostinTran
Leopardstown Irish Gold Cup Kem/Delta/PP
Newbury Betfair Denman Chase LostinTran
Ascot Betfair Ascot Chase Cryname

Lost in Translation is going straight to the Gold Cup P.O.P.

You've pretty much answered it yourself is probably why... don't think there are any key trials you're missing

Yeh your probably right. So basically I am a massive clan fan. I was on the king george at 33/1 and gold cup 50/1 last year.

So i am just trying to find the best time to back clan....i cant time the bet right this time. Before the weekend and santini runs?

His price hasn't factored in the Course form enough for me.... single figures just doesn't float my boat.

I'm not sure his price would change regardless of what Santini does to be honest.

Are you on him this year or just waiting?

I plan to do some serious points on clan, i think hes is up there in the top paul hall of fame in time.
Yeh I havent got a penny on him yet. I saw bfair did 9/1 on sportsbook earlier in the week , which cut down to 8/1. But its back to 9/1 again.
