Sickening isn’t it!! That’s the tizzards for you, absolutely clueless

Frodon won’t be anywhere near without an easy lead. Elegant Escape relished the hill but was it just me or did he sort of slow down again when he reached Frodons hind quarters on the run in?

To think he didnt run in the 4 miler last year CoD... the 40/1 vouchers on here

Urgh don't remind me!! :sorrow:

On first thought I thought it was just the jockey realising he was beat and didn't want to push him one last time with the Gold Cup in mind

He gave up the challenge once he joined Frodon. Doubt that was an empty tank so raises a question over attitude

I'd have bet loads on him getting past Frodon with an extra furlong to go though...

I feel mixed about that today.... If Frodon was actually worth his rating, the NRNB I took for Frodon, and Elegant Escape and even Terrefort all look nice shouts for the places...

BUT - If Frodon is actually rubbish, all 3 are up in smoke. (Or somewhere in between)

Musings...
I didn't expect Frodon to stay well enough today, and I still am not even sure he did stay really well...
Elegant Escape is a boat, there is literally no argument I can muster....
I think the 40/1 each way was a good bet though still... but I wouldn't fancy him each way

I can see me laying off the win part of all 3 when we get closer to the day.

I think something went wrong physically with EE.

Something stopped his momentum. Either that or Frodon took his ground.

Seen a few people saying EE stopped when he got to Frodon, but maybe Frodon just picked up again when he felt EE at his tail?

That was my interpretation of it too idling in front then picked up again when he could sense some company

Thought it was jockey looking after the horse , he wasnt going to get to Frodon before line so why give him extra smack or two. Gold Cup it will be a different story , however is he good enough , not in my estimation.

Is the Gold Cup an extra furlong though Kev?
I’m sure they said on itv yesterday that due to how they’d placed the rails that yesterday’s race was actually 170 yds longer than the quoted distance. If true it makes Frodon’s effort all the more impressive and the 33/1 with BF a generous price?

Gold cup will be a different story, they go a hell of a lot quicker so elegant escape will be ridden even earlier and be even further behind. He'll be an absolute mile back turning in, and there will be better horses than frodon ahead of him, that won't be stopping.

Not sure Brital, would make it more impressive though yeah.

I took the 33/1 NRNB before the race, so now it's confirmed and he is going, 33/1 seems fair enough :highly_amused:

Frodon isn't going to win the Gold Cup though is he... he's just not good enough

I read on one of the sites that due to the rails being moved, the GC would be ~80 yards further than yesterday.

Frodon won’t get an easy lead and will be on fumes - no chance whatsoever... EE doesn’t have the speed and would only have a chance if it was bottomless

I see no reason why Frodon can't get placed.

I think 9/2 is a generous price for Native River and 8/1 about Thistlecrack looks tempting.

TS: I don't know how much you want to put on Thistlecrack or if you were looking for NRNB but on the Betfair Exchange you can currently get 20's which is way more the 8-1 you mention.
