They've said all year he starts in the John durkan. That's why his price is very risky. He'll have to win the John durkan and the Lexus to get any shorter than he is now. that's no easy task at all. And even then you can only really cut him a point or 2.
You'd have to have balls of steel to have taken a short price on him already.

If they push him out too much I'll start making him the difference between a great week and a great decade.:highly_amused:

When Gordon Elliot said last season that he was the best Novice Chaser in Ireland by a country mile I stood up and took notice. His performance in the RSA backed up those words and some so its no shock to me to see him head here on debut as other GC winners have, as opposed to a low key debut

I felt exactly the same charlie. As a reminder for the Presenting Percy fans...

What price would it need to be? They'll probably just push it back to 6/1 which wouldn't be enough for me.

Double figures...

If he only eased back to what he was I wouldn't either. I'm happy with what I have on anyway but I'd allow myself to get carried away in the Gold Cup

I'm still watching this :highly_amused: Gordon is tipping up Shattered Love at the moment.

He did say Cause of Causes would be the one ahead of Tiger Roll :( and he said he expects to win that race

Watching RSA ITV highlights from 2018. Davy says directly after having just won 'look at him, after 3 miles plus and not a puff on him, ears pricked'. He makes a cracking point. PP looked as if he hadn't even had a race.

I’m interested to see PP odds this weekend, will look to lay the win on sunday with Davy mentioning that he thinks pat is concentrating on the back end of the season. Also comments race isn’t ideal start

While there isn't anything to disagree with, Davy Russell would probably be the most negative person I've heard about Presenting Percy, playing the horse down as often as possible.

You'll be laying at around 1/3?

PP not declared for John Durkan.

Don't think he's ground dependent it's just over shorter they'd prefer more of a stamina test.
The owner was just waffling on the TV as the ground is strangely good in Ireland, so he was musing about the King George being an option,
But it's far more likely to be soft in Ireland at Xmas than Kempton anyway (who always seem to have ground slightly better than soft).

not disputing he needs a stamina test, but the first time he's likely to run over fences on probable 'good' ground would be in the gold cup. He'd have to be exceptional to work out going that stride faster and jumping quicker straight away.

Connections of Presenting Percy hinted on Sunday that a supplementary entry for the 32Red King George VI Chase was not out of the question if conditions looked like being more suitable in Britain than in Ireland.

Owner Philip Reynolds and trainer Pat Kelly are aiming the Gold Cup favourite firmly at the Savills Chase at Leopardstown on December 28 – but Kempton’s feature two days earlier might yet prove an option if the ground was unsuitably quick in Ireland.

Winner of the RSA Chase at Cheltenham in March, Presenting Percy was to have started the campaign in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown, but with the going still predominately good, that plan was scrapped.
“He’s in great form. It’s sad he wasn’t here. My stomach was in bits all week waiting for today and I’m going to have to go through it all again in December,” Reynolds told At The Races.

“He’s in terrific form. Pat just felt the ground wasn’t soft enough. He’s been back in since the beginning of August. We thought we might get a run into him early November time, then we thought we were going to Punchestown.
“Leopardstown is only a couple of weeks away, if Pat wasn’t happy I wasn’t going to push his hand, so we will just have to wait until the 28th. I’m not sure whether Leopardstown will be any worse than Punchestown. The ground at Leopardstown at Christmas can be pretty good.

“We’re running out of time, we’re running out of places, so unless we supplement him for the King George . . . the ground is softer over there, as we saw on Saturday (at Sandown). The lads down at the start got an awful pelting out in the rain.”
Asked if Kempton was a serious consideration, Reynolds added: “We’ve got to get him out. We didn’t take a chance today, so we’re not going to take one in Leopardstown if the ground is every bit as good. All options – we’ll have to consider everything.”

Wonder will we see PP over hurdles again this year, I would say yes.

There is an air of anticipation around Presenting Percy going in to open company. He's priced as if he's already made the step up to the grade though, and an unothodox prep (despite working before) is starting to worry me :very_drunk:

He's the last leg in plenty of speculative multiples that I've had though! Did the same with Our Duke last year and it was a great feeling on the day, potentially waiting on well into the 5 figures if he'd have won... He was first beaten but I won't be changing the method.

Percy is the one, others are better value, but some races, you just want the winner and if I could only bet on 1 for this race, and had a £100 free bet, it'd be on Presenting Percy every time.

I will have an all green book for the race I'd imagine, but there will only be 1 significant winner for me (at this stage, that's the plan anyway!) [Risk of injury is enough for me to have the multiple horse approach for the race]

His prep was somewhat unorthodox last season too so is not something I would worry about just yet. He started in October last season and ended at the Cheltenham Festival with him, maybe they are starting later with a view to either Aintree or Punchestown after Cheltenham this time around too, just a thought.

No proof he's the one.ill stress that I'm not saying he can't win.

Shattered love has beat him the once they lined up , not taking that literal ofcourse but she's improved considerably too. (No suprise as shes huge) Alboum photo would have been within 2 lengths either way in the rsa iv no doubt of that, in what was the 7th run of his life. He's improved too since then.
Percy had the experiance last year we'll soon find out in the Lexus if the others have caught up. I really think they have . With Alboum photo and shattered love being the main 2 imo.

And I'd have to mention rathvinden and monalee as having there own chances. The former stays all day. The latter has learned to harness his energy but needs to improve a little.
