Gold Cup is wide open. Native River and Might Bite look like damaged goods now.

That’s a bit harsh on Native River. I thought he ran a perfectly good race and he’ll be a danger to all come March at a track and trip that suits much better than today.

On an off the bit the whole way. Jury is out for me.

Good stats. I know Rathvinden has been talked about as a National horse but wouldn’t rule him out either if they targeted it. His price on betfair suggests he isn’t going this way though.

Dour stayers can never be ruled out of the gold cup. If it came up soft / heavy I'd Even give monbeg notorious a shout. he's pretty slow and will get badly outpaced but he flew home at punchestown even though he was hampered badly. Hes caught my eye a few times. He'll win a big one at a huge price somewhere down the line.

Was no one else impressed with Thistlecrack? His jumping looked all over the place; he kept losing lengths every fence. However, it was his first run since the KG last yr, and the clerk has since agreed that the fences may have been a tad too high and firm, which may have upset a few horses’ rhythms. Looked full of running, and ran on well into 3rd.

I’d be very tempted with him ew for the KG if he improves for the run, as you’d expect. No idea what is up with MB, and don’t entirely trust BDM away from Haydock! Not 100% convinced Native River will turn up either.

Would be great for racing if he managed to get back to his best.

You'll soon find out. John durkan. Lexus . Gold cup

I really hope monalee, Alboum photo, shattered love and PP all meet in the Lexus once they've had there prep. I think a few people might be suprised of what a few more runs and another season to mature does . The RSA was presenting percy's 17th run of his life.
Compare that to Alboum photo 8th run. Monalee12th run. There's plenty of improvement to come. The price difference is outrageous. And iv already happily availed to take advantage of that.

Hopeful stuff Scooby. PP a 2nd season chaser having hosed up at the festival 2 years running. Monalee won't run, and Alboum Photo, what do we make of his credentials????? there'll be no Gold Cup laurels for that horse. If you're looking for a challenger from across the Irish Sea you'd be wise to look in Meade's yard. all imho.

I don't think you know that monalee won t run. Same for shattered love. They'll have there trial they'll be given every chance. Horses improve not quite sure why you taint every horse as can't improve.
Alboum photo had 8 runs to presenting percys 17 going in to the rsa. There would have been no more than 2 lengths between them without him coming down, he could have won, he finishes out every race well and ruby manouvered him to the stand side ready to go for him afyer the fence. he's gone on to win the Ryanair gold cup and the 3mile champion novice chase (bar townend) on his next 2 starts so you could arguably say hes improved. Hes got 4 pounds to find on official figures, there's an extra 2f here. He stays all day, he could find that improvement in jumping alone. Hardy pissing in the wind he's the leading staying novice chaser from last year at 33/1

Disko is the forgotten horse. More likely to stay than the likes of Monalee and Shattered love. Form is rock solid.

Nothing at all to fear for the Irish on that performance.

Did you not lose a fortune laying PP last year Scooby? I'm sure you said you were laying every penny of profit on PP in the RSA last season.

Once bitten, twice shy? :devilish:

I diddnt, I did say my intention was to to do that. I couldnt have him at all. I updated my bets each day during the festival on here. I won so much during the 1st day that I diddnt need to or have the bottle to do so. So i said if he won I'd name my son percy, of which I diddnt have the bottle to do either. I lost a reasonable ammount on the race having Alboum photo ew at big prices for decent money. He fell when he would have finished atleast 2nd. Happy to take it on the chin.
I also backed dounikos ew at 40s he got outpaced and he wasn't good enough.

I feel a boil over brewing already

Fair enough....

I was desperately trying to find the post but couldn't:devilish:

I was dead against PP in the RSA. I had to reassess after the race and admit I was wrong. Wouldn't be against him for the Gold Cup that's for sure.

He ticks the RSA second season chaser box but I hate his price.

I wouldnt be against him having a chance. But I wouldn't be with him. There's no horse I'd back at that price antepost for chelt. Especially when he has atleast 2 trials to get through and he'd be that price on the day even if he won 1 of 2 and made it there sound in peak form.

My whole job is to find big price alternatives that have a chance of winning which is higher than there odds would suggest. . And I'm happy with what iv backed.

There's no value in the price now. Could get beat a few times before the Gold Cup and still win the big one. Before the RSA I was adamant it was a glorified handicappper :(

There are lots of reasons why Presenting Percy is the so much shorter than Al Boum Photo but some of the more obvious ones would be his superior jumping and course form. Al Boum Photo most definitely can throw his hat into the ring this season but he’s got to improve his jumping.

The durkan might be a bit on the sharp side for him on his 1st run. He wont be disgraced.
But I'd be dissapointed if he can't go close in the Lexus. Id agree with his jumping he's lightly raced and I'd trust them to sort that out, hes learning on the job. he's some engine to get away with it and still find plenty at the finish. Iv happily taken the 33s, iv a lot of faith in him and he's deffinately improvement in him. I'll be suprised if he isn't the mullins 1st string come March.

Looking at current prices Sizing John @ 26’s on the exchange stands out. I took 21 but going in again.

I think the 18/1 boosted road to respect is decent ew value. He was entitled to hose up as he did last time Out, but he showed his wellbeing. Hes open to improvement and he'll come on for the run. He Diddnt get his ground at chelt last year, and I like his attitude. One thing you know for your money is that he'll give it his all. His temperament and will to win is unquestionable.
