He can certainly improve but he is a year older than many of last season's novices so there's no guarantee that he's improved as much as the likes of Al Boum Photo. His hurdle run today was only 3 or 4lb better than a year ago so, until he goes over fences again it's an unanswered question. As it stands, he hasn't put in a career performance that justifies 11/4.

Completely unbias. And factual .
I'd agree 100%.

Percy has an OR of 169 and a Timeform rating of 165p.

To put it in perspective, he is officially joint fifth rated (with 3 others) of the likely Gold Cup runners and barely gets in the Timeform top ten.

Again unbias and factual.

Something else that is factual is that, despite being a professional gambler, you display far too much emotion when it comes to certain horses. Think how much richer you could have been if you hadn’t been so blinkered in your view of Percy for the last two years.

from the end of March I shall no longer gamble for a living.

( will still follow racing)

I didn't know that?!

Boooo.

There's another 27 races for you to win so I have no doubt you'll have a profitable week ... you're just playing for the places here :devilish::highly_amused:

Always the plan when I had a child. I really hope so.

I wouldn’t have the minerals to gamble for a living if I only had to look after myself so it seems a wise decision now you have dependents.

I know it is.
But it's not THE Savills chase is it ?

I get what you mean. It's not that one. But it's the named the same. The winner of THE savils chase, himself, has surely shown improvement

Kemboy was beaten by shattered love, terrefort, benatar in the JLT. If either of them 3 had come out 1st run since and won a reasonable hurdles race. Would we be confirming there superiority over kemboy, with his shown improvement since?

RSA is the best guide to Gold cup winners bar none. And that's a Fact.
Especially if the form begins to work out the following season.

I get archie's point about his age (ever so slightly) but he's only 8 and had five chase runs.
And he is too short a price in comparison to others. If that's the discussion.

And if we took price out of it and I had to pick a winner. It would be PP all day long, as we stand now.

your knowledge is very good, especially your french racing. Good to see you putting your family first as I’ve seen a few gamblers in the past go the other way and lose it all.

Good luck wherever your new choice takes you.

From your early posts I'm sure you said you were working for a living when you joined the forum. That's a very short Pro pointing career. Best of luck.

Don't want to hijack the thread and thanks for the above

I technically work now and have done the same for 7 years but i only work 12 straight days a year (close protection royal ascot/ Glastonbury (when on) because Its not even really like work. Basically like going there for free.

I have only been in here a short time and I don’t get involved in the bitching. I read everyone’s opinions and thoughts and gauge my own bets from bits of help that way.
What I do know is that Scooby has helped give a few of us some very nice ante Post tickets.
Many thanks for that..

Weren’t you going to call you child Percy if he won the RSA?! All the best though, I don’t have half the time to put into racing since I’ve had kids. No a bad trade off though!

I think Alboum would have gone very close . Ruby thinks second. Some people on here think 5th for what ever reason.
One things for sure. He's improved on what was his 7th run of his life . Silly talk to take the RSA as confirmation. PP has done nothing since. Won the rsa on soft and was Beat by our duke beforehand. Alboum has done everything since. You can't deny that. PP has to step up. Nothing at all to say that right now he's better than Alboum photo. Literally nothing. Not sure you realise that he has to step up on what he did in the RSA. Believe me he does

And you can't use elegant escape. He was outpaced. He's no where near good enough for a GC. Can't go with them.

What a load of rubbish about what a great prep. Campaigned with, 1 day in mind. ...
What it is is picking up an easy pot in the galmoy hurdle. Then Another easy pot. Avoiding all good opposition, getting the money in the satchel, And then taking your chance in the GC.
He avoided the savils chase at Christmas that alboum ohoto won on the ground pp wanted. There's no denying that. He's took a soft touch and his fans are saying what a great thing. And now he's avoiding the Irish gold cup. . Its poor for the sport.

LOL gone very close? Come on Scooby you are purely speculating. He fell + didn't look to be getting near PP that day. I had him backed as well, i am not a massive PP fanboy like some.

He has improved no doubt i love the horse and have followed him since his debut over here- but i don't work with blinkers thank god.

Also, your claims about PP's form being old. You have horses in your portfolio with older form lines that you are holding on to???

Anyone willing to give Terrefort another look for a Gold Cup run, especially if he bounces back tomorrow? I know Cotswold chase form isn't great going to Gold Cup but I've had a few bits of 66s on him and I'm desperately clinging on for a run!

In a way answering my own question, he was impressive at Aintree after being beaten by Shattered Love, (shattering my heart and all) so maybe owners might look at skipping the festival and sending him there
