Cheltenham Bumper 2019

Nicky not keen on bumper either.

Watched the interview between Elliott and G o' Brien on ATR after Malone Road beat Mt Leinster, something stood out, when he spoke about Malone Road he never broke a smile which I found strange. When asked did he have anything better he laughed and said yes a few. I would like to say Malone Road looked good but what did he really beat. The time for the race was only the same as the course average which shows the race may not be that special after all, only time will tell and the price is shocking now.

I wouldn't base my punting around whether a trainer laughed or smiled during an interview though Chris. It couldn't be further from my thoughts really.

Mt Leinster wasn't a no hoper before the race, he'd won a bumper by 22L - he's 'average' at worst.... and Malone Road has beaten him 8L in visually impressive fashion.

Surely better to form an opinion on the races than the interview afterwards?

I thought Gary asked him if he had any other good ones, and replied a few... Could be wrong, but couldn't find the interview online to check.

Just seemed stock Q&A, to me. What's he going to say when someone asks him if he has any more good horses?

Knew i was something along those lines.

Cheers for that, SAMCRO.

The key to that is ofcourse he has loads of lovely ptp horses to run in bumpers, there's millions of euros of talent there. but with the likes of fury road there's no chance they'll be going for the chelt champion bumper.

And the good news is 365 have finally added shadow rider. To the market. Been waiting for him. That's my bumper bets 100%done. And hopefully I can cash 1 nearer the time.

28s Malone road
33/1 shadow rider
33/1 asterion forlonge
33/1 envoi allen

You should have it well covered there. The other Mullins inmate I mentioned a while back is The Big Getaway and he’s the only one on my watch list with Envoi Allen at present.

The big getaway looks a nice sort paid 220,000 for him.
Id be very happy and confident with them 4. And can cash 1 if he diddnt run.

Would you conclude that Mt. Leinster is just not good enough?

I have him in a couple of bets so thinking of cashing out a couple.

I've just taken on a couple more clients at work, so my only insights are from reading here, and listening to podcasts when I'm driving.

Probably for the best, as I'm clueless and only think myself into knots :p

I wouldn't completely rule him out.
Patrick was very easy on him when he knew he was beat (well beat)
Willie will not be shy of running 4 or 5 in the bumper so you'll likely get a run for your money.
And Willie's bumper horses are hard to rank and often don't run at the festival in order of SP or who Patrick rides.

As a caveat though, It does look like being different this year as Gordon looks like getting serious with the race.

I doubt very much he'll be sent to Cheltenham, Willie does like to send horses that have won their races and bring a 100% record to the track.

Although not quite as impressive as some of the early contenders from Ireland, Tom Lacey had an impressive winner of the bumper at Ascot on Saturday called Hazzaar. He travelled into the race nicely but was a little green and took a while to put the race to bed. Some things to note that may or may not prove useful:

1.) The horse was backed into favouritism despite never seeing the track before.

2.) Noel Fehily took the reins.

3.) I’ve since read quotes that Hazzaar is as good as they’ve had in the yard (Up there with Sebastopol).

4.) Although Sebastopol blotted his copy book on his debut over hurdles, most would agree his bumper win at Ayr was impressive.

5.) They are considering coming back to Ascot for the listed bumper.

Hi boys, has any one heard anything about Feel My Pulse.

I wouldn't rule him out either. Raced far too keenly vs MR. Yes, MR was impressive, but ML took a strong pull the whole way round and as Quevega says Patrick was very easy on him when he knew he was beat

Himself and the likes of fury road, I wouldn't be backing them for this. O'leary would laugh if you mentioned them in the same sentence as the bumper. Felix desjy was a €14,000 store horse. These lads are future staying chasers.

Not a race I do well in but has the winner ever been obvious this far out ?

Moon racer was easy enough. Ballyandy. The last 2 wouldn't have been on many people's radar.
