Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

Let's see what post race comments are but running over hurdles in May as a 4yo at Tramore is absolutely contrary to normal practice.

She's a bonny thing but I think they just want some summer fun with her because she's not that big and may not have too much scope.

Said same about her mother.
And tramore is the new stepping stone for Cheltenham champions.

But you’re cautiously right
Lot to do yet
But they’ll no doubt want some black type from these babies.
Not just fun.

If Altior wins the King George do you think they will go for the Gold Cup? Personally, I think they will drop back for the QMCC but interested in others thoughts.

Depends on how he wins.

I think it's a definite possibility however you couldn't be confident at all ...

I'd certainly rule out the Ryanair and you'd have to assume QMCC is more likely

But at the price he is for the QMCC knowing they're at least attempting to go up in trip would stop me backing him at single figures

To what extent (if any) we can use Unibets pricing up of the two races as a guide to where Altior will be heading? Currently 9/4 QMCC, fairly short compared to some bookies, 20/1 best price for Gold Cup.

As I've said before, I'd take those odds as meaning that Altior is about 5/1 to actually turn up on Gold Cup day.

I don't think anyone can get excited about Altior as a Gold Cup contender until we've seen the King George.

He'll NEVER be priced up on the generous side regardless of what he ever does again. Way too high profile.

I might well end up with money on him in the King George, but I won't be arguing it's great value, I just want to pick a side and WANT him to be a superstar (More of a superstar)

Fingers crossed. Added this myself yesterday ... RC highlighted Paisley to go with the trixie.

Can see the monthly yankee looking similar!

Lads what happens here if there is a NR or not. Don't dabble in multiples too often, nevermind antepost lol.

In theory all the lines go down with the NR in. But as Q has mentioned on a few occasions if doing multis with 365 do them each as single lines, that way if you get wind of an injury before they do you can just cash out lines with that selection in

Sorry RC- i am not sure what you mean. Do you mean, if you have 4 selections in your betslip, and do all the bets at the same time, that is a single line?

The reason i am interested is i think MOM's bet looks a good one, but anyone backing Chacun Pour Soi at that price this far out with his fitness record is ballsy (IMO). Obviously if the bet went on with him even as a NR, i'd be happier to do it.

Jack,

The suggestion is (while painstaking) to place each single/double/treble and the four fold one by one.

As a result if there is a no runner that we sniff out while the bookies are sleeping you can cash out those bets with that one horse, rather than cashing out the whole thing and losing the good prices on others.

Does anyone fancy Southfield Vic for the fox hunters? He won a hunters chase at newton abbot today beating road to riches by ten lengths I take it he would be qualified for the foxhunters?

Nice people from 365 gave me a free £5 which has gone on Blue sari at 16/1 sup

D’lauro has hacked up there in the last at Punchestown, was quite short odds for a lot of races last september.

Have had 0.5U at the boosted 17.5/1 any race with Hills after watching him come round the bend

Came in to post the same thing. Impressive.

Just by chance I flicked over the TV and watched the last race of the evening at Punchestown. Dlauro won effortlessly and could be a smart prospect for next season. Very impressive.

Wish I'd gone to back him before writing on here, missed the 17/1 by a nanosecond.

So much for not backing a novice Hurdler before the season starts, 2.5 points win Dlauro 33/1 for the Ballymore with 365. Impressive in winning today as the guys above mention I've revisited last season's One Jump Ahead where he appears as one of the 40 to follow and it's hard not to be take by his previous trainers comments:

"This is a proper horse. He's very exciting and has always pleased us. He is a super jumper; he's one of the nicest horses we've ever had"

So we know he can jump and this from a trainer who has started the careers of Holywell, The World's End and Topofthegame to name but few. He does look like he'll be versatile over a trip so those on 17s any race well played. As I've missed that I'm reverting to my trusted cash out friends at 365 whose 33/1 is some way bigger than the 14s on offer with PP/BFSB. I will also back him with the same firm when they put up a price for the Supreme, hopefully at least 25s. I won't back him for the AB as rarely get properly involved in that race.
