Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

If altior doesn’t defend which now looks likely QMCC there for the taking ....

Have to have some each way plays at the race.

Still think he could step up in trip but drop back for the QMCC - the Ryanair just doesn't seem likely does it.

Get him in the Gold Cup to annoy Ista :p :devilish:

Wins the King George then drop back to win a 3rd Champion Chase imo.

Obviously the lure of a Gold Cup will be HUGE after winning the King George. But I just can't see them putting him into the unknown 3m2 trip, especially for a trainer like Henderson when a 3rd Champion Chase is there for the taking. At the one track where it'll be left handed and have the hill to help him out on any if only slight concerns at the 2 mile trip with him by then.

Topping up on him in the King George 2019 will be the project for the next 8 months though. Little doubt he wins it for me

Don't think he wins King George myself.
His form is starting to match his actual rating now, although he looks like he wants further and may well improve for it. He'll need too.
Compare his new habit of jumping a little to the left to Cyrname around Kempton or Ascot and I'd be on Cyrname I reckon.

Cyrname not ticked the stamina box for the KG yet either technically. Must be the literal, most over rated NH horse in history.

Bring it on.

Let's hope they get there, and last years winner Clan Des Obeaux.... an absolute barnstorming King George to look forward to!

None of them are good prices but I don't care :highly_amused:

Reckon those three will scare off any Irish though.... Imagine Min turning up and doing Altior.

It does look a competitive division in the fast 3 mile division for this year.

Think people forget that Cyrname is still only 7. The last two runs are hard to explain away.

fingers crossed they all turn up, I'm sure Willie mentioned the king george for one if his the other day also (was it kemboy ?) can't remember.

ADDED:

Got myself a Willie Mullins Bingo card...

Quick Grabim (CH) 66/1, Allaho (RSA) 20/1, Chacun Pour Soi 25/1 (CC), Carefully Selected 66/1 (Stayers) - 33p L15 Sky *FB

Altior out to 5/1 for the QMCC

Buveur D'air out to 12/1 for the CH

I wonder if I'll get accused of being drunk again when daring to question whether these are sensible prices in March2019 :p

The other of course was Santini, who inexplicabily is now best priced 12/1 for a Gold Cup - when he was 14/1 before Kemboy won at Aintree, which although unrelated form, makes Santini's task harder on paper. Santini at 12/1 is one of the worst bets I could imagine at this stage. LOADS better off backing him for the Ladbroke Trophy (where he is best priced 12/1)

I am mulling over the risk in Altior at 5/1 for the QMCC - and 20/1 in a Gold Cup. I think the Ryanair is a 100/1 shot at best that he ran... he'd need to not stay in the King George then get beaten over 2 miles before Cheltenham for that to come into the equation (so perhaps it's less than 100/1 but I'm not considering it for now).
I am pretty sure I'll start backing him in doubles (with him being the last leg) for the King George - but 5/1 is a tempting price when even if he does win a King George, he could go for an incredible 3rd QMCC.

The division doesn't look particularly strong with newcomers (only really Le Richebourg, Duc Des Genivres, Defi Du Seuil, Cilaos Emery and to some extent Great Field to show their potential hands)

5/1 not something to go wild about 11 months away with an uncertain target, but food for thought on a Monday

Thought about it and considered double with espoir with hills.
But think the price might pop up again at some point in the season especially if they start at 2m 4f then king George as suggested
Although Henderson could easily state early in season that the Cheltenham race will still be queen mother. So can’t be sure.
May be a better bet to have with bet365 immediately prior to Kempton as there’ll be a lot of talk about Gold cup etc.
Hendersons gob is the key.

Second bets for Cheltenham 2020 placed. 1pt each on Carefully Selected and Allaho for the RSA, both at 33/1. Have to hope at least one of them would be aimed down that route next year

Second real money bet place (first was the Gypsy Island special)

Added Delta Work at 25/1 as he sailed over the last.

Very impressive.

Gold Cup division is absolutely superb for next year. Bellshill, Kemboy, Al Boum Photo tomorrow.

Topofthegame, Santini, Delta Work from the RSA.

Presenting Percy to bounce back and Lostintranslation in the mix - - Clan Des Obeaux a year stronger?

Woooooooooooo

and sweet Jesus, what if Altior wins the King George.

Had a few false dawns with 'great' looking Gold Cups since Kauto vs Denman era, but this is a magnificent time to be in to racing, surely.

After a decent festival I've embraced the antepost a little earlier this year. Real money bets only so far (not including freebies and multis):

BDD - 1 point Mares 6.5/1, 1 point Any race 5.4/1 (may top this one up)
Paisley Park - 3 points Stayers 7/2
Carefully Selected - 1.5 points RSA 33/1 and NHC 1 point 25/1
Klassical Dream - 4 points Any race 5.4/1

That will probably be me until September in terms of proper bets, but will hopefully get a few free bets on and continue to place small cross sport multis with a Cheltenham horse as the last leg, which has already been going well

I tried to get a bet on DW with 365 before he reached the last but they weren't having it and then I ended up missing the end of the race to add insult to injury...haha
