Cheltenham 2019 Ante-Post bets

forget that - he ran in chase last year Kempton (hells kitchen won, mr whittaker second) on boxing day so that's three runs i think.

Wenyerreadyfreddie - rated 145
when asked if he'll run at cheltenham this weekend - He's on 145 and I'd like to leave him there. So cheltenham not best place to run him (obviously against other good novices, so may ruin mark)
needs one more run so I'd imagine he won't be winning that, or at least not against anything rated high enough to affect his rating

Monbeg legend the other.

Maybe not the place to post this, but anyone heard anything on Jerrysback and if he’ll run this Friday ? He’s currently 10/1 which I think is a great bet but I haven’t heard much on him, and if he’ll run.

Not much news from stable tour

He had very nice form in his novice hurdles when he was winning very easily. He will be going novice chasing.

Monbeg legend the other.

Monbeg Legend
Has made up for lost time and has a good strike rate, winning three times over fences already this season. He'll continue through the autumn, but is one for the better ground so might have a winter break.

Possibly not the most obvious one as he's right on the limit at 145 now and will be a 9 year old come the Festival, albeit with low miles on the clock.

I'd be very surprised if Monbeg Legend was up to winning at the Festival myself.

Didn't fancy starting a thread for the Close Brothers just yet, but interesting comments from Nicky today (when discussing Rather Be):

“His run at Cheltenham was very good, that race (Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap) is a real conundrum, you’ve got to have three runs, you can’t go over 145 but if you’re 140 you run the risk of not getting in."

“I’ve got three horses that are on that rating now, so I’ve got to hold them there between now and next March."

Sooo... brownie points on offer for anyone who can identify the Henderson novice chasers he's talking about! They can be first on the shortlist for this race.

Any comments in the stable tour that would help us out JackieMoon?

The two I had in mind from last season from Henderson for this were Diese Des Bieffes and Pacific De Baune. Despite the RP stable tour being very comprehensive (included unraced and even unamed horses), Diese Des Bieffes was not mentioned so that does not bode well as he could be out for the season. The latter was mentioned and will remain on my watch list.

Pacific De Baune
A useful Novice hurdler and a horse I like a lot, he progressed nicely and I expect him to do well over fences this season. He had a good summer and 2m-2m 4f on good ground is ideal.

I'll keep him on the watch list as he's entered in a handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday so may not even go chasing.

One very interesting Unnamed horse is the Henderson stable tour is a half brother to Hurricane Fly by Camelot.

Owned by John Turner
He's the most stunning individual and a terrific athlete, he also has an amazing pedigree being a half brother to the great Hurricane Fly. He could hardly have better credentials and was fantastic to break in, so I hope he's as good as the book says he should be.

That is interesting. I can't find any horses with John Turner on RP? What colours do they run in?

I couldn't find anything either for John Turner that seemed to relate to the Henderson yard.

Another significant unnamed horse is a half brother to Might Bite and a full brother to Beat That owned by JP McManus.

What did he say about Verdana Blue please (wondering if he is going to run her in the Greatwood) cheers

I'm sure after the race on saturday , Henderson said Verdana Blue would go for the
Scottish Champion hurdle Billymag.

No grand annual thread yet but they're already running chesterfield in a very competative race on ground he really dosent act on. Needs 1 more run for a mark.

I went to Plumpton on 5th nov., A.T.Races jumps season preview.

They mentioned Chesterfield for the G.annual too. Mr Whitaker for the Ryanair .

Never adapt , Acey milan ,Claimantakinforgan - Arkle., Kilfinen Cross.
Also - Jockeys to follow - James Bowen ( Mr M :)) and Conor Brace .

Trained by Kim Bailey.

Tizzard has 250 cows for sale if anyone fancys one

60 years of milk production at Venn Farm will come to an end on Tuesday and the headline “Dairy farmer wins Gold Cup” will not be applicable should Colin Tizzard’s Native River win the big race again in March.

"The last pint has been coaxed from the last milker and, from now on, should Colin need some for his porridge, he will have to get it from the shops. So, it is with mixed emotions that he will see the cows, the parlour, their cubicles and the bulk tank sold off".

The dairy was started by his father in the 1950s and Colin has run it for nearly 30 years. “I’ve been a dairy farmer all my life,” he said, “and it has got us to where we are now, but it is a business decision. We’ve invested in the racing yard at Spurles Farm but haven’t done so much at Venn. To attract decent staff we’d need a new parlour, drains and you’d be looking at a £750,000 investment.”
