I posted this on 19th March.
"To my mind, the most visually impressive winner by far was Laurina in the Mares. Maybe the race fell apart a bit, and what did it beat, but the horse oozed class. Willie Mullins column in the Racing Post rarely gives much away, but for him to say "who knows, she could be Champion Hurdle material " was more than good enough for me. The current 2 milers are nothing special, and whilst Buveur D'air won again, beating Mick Jazz by just over 3 lengths didn't catch my eye. I think that 14/1 is an excellent Champion Hurdle price for the mare.

My other eye catcher considering the ground was Santini in the Albert Bartlett. A slog in that ground favoured other horses, and granted normal Cheltenham ground, it has RSA horse written all over it next year. 16/1 is another cracking price. Both Mullins and Henderson know how to handle very talented horses, and can see their Cheltenham targets well in advance.

Having backed those two in singles and doubles, one also has to throw in two more for that life changing yankee !

I think that Willie Mullins will send Melon chasing next year ( similar route to Footpad this year ) and Melon looks an Arkle horse to me, so that's in, along with the mercurial Samcro for the JLT. If the horse is that future classier Gold Cup horse, then the JLT is a better route at this stage than the RSA which tends to be for the stayers who grind it out."

I've since cashed out the yankee and the two singles, leaving just the double which is paying a price boosted at the time 313/1 ( from 254/1 ). As I've watched the prices tumble for both to reduce the double to 48/1, I'm starting to get hopeful. Mullins has suggested that Laurina will run at Ascot on the 24th, but nothing as yet on Santini.

Nice position to be able to leave yourself in mrfrisk with the double

Let's hope they make it there!

thistlecracker - I'd only done the singles and the yankee win only with B365 to smaller stakes, and with doubts where Laurina was going, cashed them in for a small profit. Too many eggs in one basket theory I suppose. With hindsight, I probably should have held my nerve longer and kept both singles. However as my biggest bet by far was the double which I'd done each way, I thought that any place money would more than compensate.

Thanks Kev, getting them there as always will be the problem !

Nicky Henderson stable tour in the RP today so if anyone wants info on any particular horses, let me know.

Jackie did Nicky namecheck the Supreme (or 2miles) with any of his novice hurdlers? Off the top of my head i'm struggling to spot the Henderson runner(s) in the Supreme at this early stage. Pym's destination is all but certain to be at the intermediate trip now and although you cannot write him off already, I was slightly underwelmed by Mister Fishers performance at Newbury recently and think he may not be as good as the hype suggested. Unless i'm missing anyone obvious (which is probably the case!) a lot of his novice hurdlers would be staying types in my eyes...

I'll try and see if I've still got the paper lying around but the main one I had was Mister Fisher and although I'm on him and was a tad disappointed by his first run, Henderson did say he took a blow two out. For now I'm clinging on to some hope he'll improve next time out.

Downtown Getaway is one I'm waiting to see an entry for as I really can't get a steer on what his trip will be. His bumper form from last season has been franked but I've seen no entries so far.

Not quite up to Mayo's Millions standard ... but - 1.- Draconien - arkle - 20-1.
2.- Mr Whitaker - R/air - 40-1.
3.- Wholestone - Styrs - 20-1.
4.- Adjali - Triumph- 33-1.

Right kids Im off to jump on the train and go to Cheltenham. We run Dream Du Grand Val today, in the 2nd race and we think he will run well, we feel that the French 5 year olds are a really good bunch and ahead of their British counterparts and weve taken the unusual step of running one of ours first time out in a hcp. We are on a bit of a fact finding mission but we obviously feel hes ahead of his mark, hopefully he runs well and comes back safe. Catch you all after the weekend.

MULTIPLES - Note of Caution re Betfair antepost

Just checked Betfairs terms and whilst max payout is £1m this is restricted to £250k for antepost. I have been placing quite a few bets for £1m payout so a bit annoyed to find this out!

Lads is max £1m
Bet 365 is max £1m
Sky bet £500k

Cheers for the heads up Vautour. Trying to envisage how annoyed I wouldn't be landing 250k and not the full mil. :highly_amused:

Don't think that'll affect me :heart-borken:

There’s an interesting ‘Your odds’ on William Hill of Kilbricken Storm to win the Gold Cup at any point upto and including the 2023 festival at 33/1.

You’d hope you’d get atleast two cracks at the whip with that

Me an a mate have been having a Cheltenham evening tonight (watching re-runs of last year) and placed two yankees.

Win one consisting of.

Buveur D'air (CH)
Altior (CC)
Tiger Roll (X-Country)
Might Bite (Gold Cup)

and an EW one consisting of

Claimantakinforgan (Arkle)
Next Destination (RSA)
Mall Dini (Kim Muir)
Carefully Selected (AB)

Couple of fun bets really to follow the odds through the season, especially the EW one which is obviously more speculative.

I almost feel Guilty .... Last year Might bite was in Just about every Multiple bet i did , and a hefty Single,
Haven't got him in any A.P bet's this time round.!.... so far anyway.
