Cheltenham 2017 Antepost Bets

Altior 2/7 (for obvious reasons, no price but gets the yankee up and running with a win)

William Henry 20/1 (Neptune) - Feel he has been forgotten a little, and for me will likely show up better on good ground, provided that's what we get. Losing to Wholestone is no cause for concern, he's beat a lot of nice novices this year and looks a good horse himself.

Might Bite 3/1 (RSA) - Already have this horse at 12/1 in a couple of multi's and probably is too short now, but I was looking for other runners for the trainer and had to include this one. Really like the horse myself, thinking and hoping he's a cut above the lot he faces in this race.

Consul De Thaix 10/1 (County) - A couple of solid runs against what is the current 5th favourite for the Champion Hurdle, I personally don't think there are any issues with the horse, I feel he didn't run at the weekend to keep his mark the same, currently 140 he just about keeps within the parameters for horses that win this race based on ratings only, I think the last 11 winners have been rated 130 -140.

Thoughts?

Personally I couldnt have a 2/7 price in an each way multiple. I do like backing trainers in multiples though..Top Notch or Whisper for JLT as an alternative ? Probably will need close to 140 to get into the County these days so CDT a very good spot at that number.

I get your point about the 2/7 shot but being a yankee the win element doesn't kick in until a double is hit and at the prices I wouldn't be happy if say William Henry won at 20/1 and the others didn't, even if it doesn't add much value to the bet itself, Altior looks near a cert as you could get for me.

I probably could and maybe should have done a L15 instead and stuck Whisper or Top Notch in yeah.

I love the look of this. :) Only change I'd make is for Zabana - not sure who for though....

Like Mall Dini & Diamond King, but go against you on the other two in my bets.

County: Consul De Thaix

Pertemps: Golden Doyen (same trainer as For Good Measure).
 
Mall Dini (Ultima) and Presenting Percy (Pertemps). Davy and connections double..
 
I do like Presenting Percy too tbh. In fact the 3 above mentioned have all seen the colour of my money, but Golden Doyen is the money spinner for me.
 
yeah I like Presenting Percy but have had NHH in mind for the County for some time, I like Skeltons horses, deffo a trainer on the up.
 
Presenting Percy is not going to go unnoticed by Smith though...seems to be an awful lot of talk about him.
 
Golden Doyan just beat FGM a head in October at Cheltenham, not much in it really.
 
I have been putting golden doyen in a few of my L.15's , pretty sure i read someone on here tipped it up a while ago.

OV - these types of polls seem to be doing well when bumped from the Cheltenham 2017 Forums. Is it worth sticking this poll to the top of this forum as a test to see how popular it gets?

Clearly the Festival forum gets much more traffic than the others. :encouragement:

OV - I was more referring to creating temporary sticky threads for like max 1-2 weeks with a link to the poll within the thread, so members still cannot create polls within the fest forum.

It's an interesting / interactive read that could attract more new members to join. Just a thought. :encouragement:
 
I know someone connected to the Twisters yard, got this update:

Yard have had a great year, they're buzzing, best chances for the week are Wholestone and Ballyandy.
Ballyandy they rate better than The New One, and in such an open year they still think TNO is capable (this at least means the champion is his definite target)
Bristol De Mai can run a big race in Gold Cup if the rain comes.
They still think Ballyoptic can go close in Stayers.

These are the most optimistic people on the planet so treat this with some caution.....
 
They must be optimistic if they think TNO is capable of winning a Champion Hurdle...... Even this one!

Wholestone, on the other hand, has to have a solid chance. I'm hoping that I can get a match bet between Wholestone and West Approach at some point - he could be maximum bet material if I can get evens or better in a match.
