I've noticed Klassical Dream has been well backed the past few days as I've been backing him myself on the exchanges. The cynic in me is putting 2 and 2 together now...

Interesting! Hadn't really looked on the exchange tbh! From an early backer that's a nice positive. At the same time though, i would like to see Saldier be fit + run anyway. Had some bad luck.
 
I have backed Saldier on bet365 and can cash out for almost treble my stake. Must admit its tempting as I left it too late with Malone Road...
 
Fortunately I split my stake on this one with bet365 (done it with quite a few this year). Have cashed out half of my bet to cover both bets and a bit more and left the other half running.

Nicky Henderson has reported Buveur D'Air to be comfortable after the dual Champion Hurdle winner underwent surgery to remove a piece of wood that got lodged in his hoof at Newcastle on Saturday.

The dual Fighting Fifth winner was lame after just getting touched off by Cornerstone Lad in his bid for a third victory in the Grade 1. His jockey Barry Geraghty reported his mount, who hit the second-last flight, had a splinter of wood in the lower section of his off-fore and on Sunday Buveur D'Air was operated on by David Mathieson and his team at Donnington Grove Veterinary Surgery in Newbury.

Henderson told the Racing Post on Monday: "He's sore, and he's bound to be because he's had a huge segment of his hoof removed from where they had to go in to get the piece of wood out. He's got a gaping hole in his hoof and it's not pretty – when it's half a horse's hoof it must be very painful.

"He's getting the best medical attention there is, and he's comfortable, but it will take a long time to grow over. They didn't need to use a general anaesthetic, which is a plus, and thankfully he hasn’t damaged the joint so we have a lot to be thankful for as it could have been much worse."

Henderson would not be drawn on whether Buveur D'Air could be seen again this season. Asked if he had any idea how long the recovery may take he said: "No, none whatsoever. We can only wait for it to grow back and that could take some time."
 
Don't think I've ever come across a horse I've backed needing a hoof to grow back.

Surely a pretty big price to make this race at his peak, if at all.
 
PP have gone 14/1 Saldier its not looking good and they have shortened a few others!!!!

Still 6/1 for me. I’d be gutted as this is currently my biggest return. However have been lucky so far this year, so bound to be hit by a few between now and March
 
I’m trying to seek a few positives - I’m sure Ruby was talking up Saldiers chances on this weekends ITV racing. That was only Saturday, surely he’d be one of the few people that were in the know?! Unless something has happened in the 48hours since then. Perhaps clutching, and since I only bet with Hills there’s sod all I can do about it either way! :sorrow:
 
im glad scooby mentioned Supa, i went in on him after bd's race. I also wouldnt be suprised to see this champion hurdle turning out to be Melons most winnable race at the fest too, i wouldnt put it past willie to re route him.
 
The entries closed last Wednesday.
 
The 14/1 was on oddschecker but on site says 6/1, id defo be hovering over the cashout button though lads the lack of an entry is screaming at me!!!
 
I’v cashed for x2 my stake, I’m always super cautious in these situations can always reinvest the full amount at 6s for same payout if so inclined. Cashed BVD on Sat night for 30% loss. No doubt will get some wrong
 
Before anything is confirmed, does anyone other than me think sometimes horses are pulled for reasons beyond injury, i.e. agreements between other owners or trainers, or just because the owner doesn't want to run it in a specific race but doesn't want the outcry of a horse not taking its chance so the story of 'out for the season' is created, etc....?

I'm pretty sceptical about word of a lot of owners/trainers, I don't believe many a lot of the time. It may be for another thread, but seeing as we seem to be on the verge of hearing some news regarding Saldier, I just thought I'd ask.

FWIW, I think the owner has every right to do what they like with their horses, they pay for them so it's tough, from a punter or fans perspective, but I wonder if they fear the backlash.

I don't think it really affects syndicates, as much due to the size of a group of owners it is really, but the individual owner would probably be affected a bit more.
