Champion Hurdle 2020

He's obviously a big price but I couldn't be having Angel's Breath at all right now. Certainly not over hurdles still and he's absolutely one I'd want to see lay down a proper marker even if it saw his price half. A lot of respectable people had high hope's for him last year and that belief may still hold true in the long term but for me he's an 'all talk no substance" horse for me. His win last year was bit of a joke of a race which hasn't held up form wise. Didn't feature in the Supreme and then Aintree on paper looked like an improvement finishing behind 2 decent horses but when you look at who finished behind it was probably the bare minimum of where he should have finished.

If they were to send him over a fence I think I'd have more interest but for now he's in the Charli Parcs category for me :devilish:

I was very disappointed in him at aintree, I had a big old bet EW on him at 13/2 ante post. I personally thought he'd have no trouble winning. Throughout the race he was poor, pulled his chance away, found very little. and i was extremely lucky just to get a share of 3rd, where I personally thought he'd been nabbed for the minor place.

Probably end up in the county as one of the market leaders.

Yeah I thought the step up in trip would have brought about the necessary improvement to see him win that day.
He's just been a very underwhelming horse so far. Unless he turned inside out over the summer and came on a bundle something needs to change whether that be discipline or trip but the step up to 2m4 didn't seem to do anything at Aintree

They will be making a film if he wins the Champion Hurdle:highly_amused:

A box office belter at that....The General meets Into The West :highly_amused:

One for our Irish members!

Seriously tho the horse is super talented "IF" still retaining his ability. I've never been more confident in a 50/1 shot as i was when i seen him kick off in the Supreme he won!

And.... Elliot confirms Morgiana and Champion hurdle are the targets today :)

Not the worst 50/1 (55/1) shot with WH then for this race is he?

Did they give an indication as to whether he's been back training / or if he ever stopped?

Then again.... 50/1 now, could be 1/50 on the day and might not jump off :highly_amused:

Labaik is the Jekell & Hyde of jump racing , he either brilliant or a dastardly bastard who decides to down tools and punters dosh also.

Pay your money and take your chance ,worse pokes in the race.

I am so looking forward to hearing what Mullins has to say in his stable tour regarding Saldier .

If as expecting he is ultra positive on him , like i think he will and endorses what Ruby already said , expect a single figure prices for Champion by the end of day.

That's nothing to be excited about, the day that happens on a horse like saldier in a race as strong as a CH. You'd have to really worry.

Prices are already on a decline, year after year, you've now lost your 1/4 the odds a place. The diary section will show how difficult it is to turn a profit. Alot will be saved by cashout. You've got to have unbelievable judgement to win without it. With declining value in markets.

I’ve backed worse 57/1 shots than Laibaik that’s for sure.

I will look to add Labaik this week, 60/1 is way too big!

With any luck, Labaik will refuse to race and be banned like he should have been for the Supreme although, naturally, I'd like punters to get their money back.

Without scrolling back through the thread, has anyone mentioned BDD for this instead of Mares Hurdle?

I doubt it, cos there is just no way she'd run here?

There is no Faugheen to get injured....

Added sharjah again in this. He was my idea of the horse who'd be held up to pick up the pieces and maybe just get up and win if they went off too fast up front. Unfortunately he was brought down by BD.

I was impressed with him last year, who knows what would have happened in the CH, and you never know, he could improve on again.
Off a rating of 167, theres no worry of handicaps. For me he was value for his winning distances last year in the fact that he was hitting the line hard After Patrick was conservative coming to the last. 33s EW will do me, and I'll be hoping it doesn't come up very soft / heavy.
No point worrying about that at this stage.

Literally just backed him myself.

This market is a lot like the Arkle, in the sense that plenty in it won't even run. 33/1 seems an absolute no brainer for a horse that improved so much last year and we now know will at least be targeting the race, especially with the cashout option.

Outside of the big two, he would be high on the list of next best.

I wanted him to go chasing, but will be backing him for the CH again. He is a no brainer each way bet IMO.
