Champion Hurdle 2020

6/1 for KD puts him at a backable price, which is handy as I haven’t really got him in my book.

The 33/1 on Saldier certainly looks good now!

...Saldier 4-1 with PP for the Champion Hurdle.

Missed the KD race, bloody neighbours knocked the door for discussion and I missed it!!! What happened?? KD not up to it or excuses??

Played up a bit before the start then jumped the first like it was a fence, settled afterwards but will have wasted some energy early on

Wow. Agree with the proximity of Petit Mouchoir being a question mark there.
Would love to be on Saldier at a decent price but that doubt means his latest price is unappealing for me.
Will want to see him follow up where you'll assume all 4 will rematch once again.
But take nothing away from Saldier today...huge performance when his price before the off suggested otherwise.

Cashed Sharjah. Probably deserves another effort on better ground but poor showing and no reason for his price to shorten any time soon.

Backed Buveur D'Air at 5.4/1 as well. On the cusp of being too short at that price but you just know he'll shorten in 2 weeks time assuming he wins the Fighting Fifth

Cheers HF, I’ll hopefully get a chance to watch the race over the weekend but only positive is that KD price has eased a bit as I still fancy him

QUOTES: We let nature take its course after his injury last year and it appears to have worked. His run at Naas last year showed us that he could be Grade 1 material and he is. Hopefully they will all improve. Klassical Dream threw himself at the first and from there he was just too keen. I think he'll improve from that and a stronger gallop will suit them all. We've been lucky in this race, even though our first string has not always won! But they're all there doing their best and that's what happens - Willie Mullins, trainer of SALDIER and Klassical Dream

The CH is looking there for the taking, step up Labaik :devilish:

I've got klassical dream in a couple of multiples but have to say surely he's a terrible price now at around 6-1. The form of his supreme so far looks shaky at best Itchy Feet and Thomas Darby not doing the form any favours. Then his first run in open company he's beaten fair and square with his ideal soft ground conditions.

Thought KD blew up coming to the last when cruising 2 out. He'll improve for the run. Saldier did it very well though and quickened up very well to take 3 lengths out of them in a matter of strides. He is the one to beat at the moment.

Just checking you have heard of a horse called Buveur D'Air? ;)

Both will come on a fair bit for their efforts. KD didnt help himself pre race and won't be able to afford to do that in CH. Saldier a good winner

Bit of a fruitloop that K.D ..throwing himself around before the off and the first hurdle ...!!

Agree that the Supreme form of the front three looks a bit broken at the moment. In hindsight a lot of the early favs for the race didn’t make it, and others came to the fore, including KDs switch from the Ballymore reckoning. I think it’s pretty normal for us to think the Supreme winner automatically should have a chance in the CH the following year, but they never seem to complete the double. One of racing formbooks strange quirks.

Just watched the race, very good win from saldier after the layoff he’s had. Be interesting to see the time as has been said with petit close up at the finish, also Mullins post race comments. Kd and saldier I think will improve and the faster pace of a ch will definitely help the former. No way can you discount bvd as place claims only lobos, all the doubters we’re out post uk festivals and he won at punchestown very well proving he’s still the top 2 miler around.

Absolutely. Had his time though. Place claims only. Not for me.

After seeing the proximity of PM today to the mullins horses Im surprised that you think he would only have place claims, he most certainly has win claims hes the best 2 mile hurdler in training on figures and no sign that he regressed last season after his Punchestown win, his reappearance is awaited with interest.

FWIW Saldier was carrying a decent amount of condition still in the parade ring today. He’ll come on bundles
