Champion Hurdle 2020

Says he'll start in the same place this season (Fighting Fifth) then go on to Christmas?

He's the one to beat, each way ;)

Wouldn't want to be on Fusil Raffles after today.

Agree, not based on today but may look different horse in Xmas hdle with a run under his belt and better ground.

Going against the tide here , but i thought F,R was slick over the hurdles , can only improve.
And ... Yes he definitely needs to,.

Agree, he was very quick and low at most, B Dair like. Think we will see a completely different performance next time. The ground really opened up at Wincanton after the deluge they had which wouldn't have suited Fusils either.

I didn't want to be Publicly humiliated :highly_amused:, earlier on , But i was thinking Buveur d'air like too Lobos .

Hendo is a sensational trainer of 2m Hurdlers. His record speaks for itself. Clearly knows how to get them to jump that way unlike any other trainer.

Agree will you BC, showed a bit of grit as well. I am quite happy with his run today. Hopefully he will be a bit better again next time

I am happy with Fusil Raffles reappearance win and won’t cash out any bets I have on him. :highly_amused:

Three runs in UK/IRE 2 Grade 2 Wins and 1 Grade 1 Win.

Will probably go up to 155 from 152 for that, and I would expect improvement race by race for a first full season racing. Need to find a stone to compete at the end of CH, and plenty of time to find it.

Plenty of untapped potential to watch through his first full season I would expect.

KIV: One year ago today, 10/11/18 Espoir D’Allen made his seasonal debut aged 4yo, winning a Grade 3 Hurdle. RPR of race 143, and Official Rating before and after the race 147. It was the seventh race of his career.

FR is ahead of target on that basis!

Im sure he has been mentioned before but im suprised Sharjah is 33/1. Won the Galway hurdle off top weight and two grade ones well before being brought down in this race last year.

3 times and double the price of some of the 4 year olds from last year is mad

Got the impression Mullins wanted to go chasing with him this year but felt he had to give him another chance based on what happened last year.

Klassical Dream also had 4 runs over hurdles the previous year so might not improve as much as a normal winner of the Supreme might be expected.

BVD will be there or there abouts and Saldier could be anything. The rest are 4 year olds from last year and have a to make the big step up. Most of the rest in the market wont run bar maybe Aramon who would have an outside chance.

Wish it was 1/4 of the odds but happy enough with 33/1 e/w based on the horses that I think will actually show up.

I know some are already on.
I think I'll do this bet before next weekend as they've said he's going to run here.
If he wins or runs really well in one of the graded races before xmas then he'll be cut.

Agree totally. Sharjah should be added to everyone's book on here Ew at 33's. Ridiculous price. Would need the ground no worse than G/S to give himself the best chance but every chance of that.

Yes, Sharjah is the best value on every horses best form. I did read somewhere that last year was Sharjah’s ground and he did very well, whereas this year it’s softer ground and that may be against him. But if the ground comes up GS on Festival Day 1 then he is better than a 33/1 shot,

Good money for Sharjah in Morgiana. Maybe KD not running ??

Given that they have always maintained that KD wants it as soft as possible and Sharjah wants a sound surface - that would be strange. Unless KD is coming up short in his work this week.

Looking at the entries and prices, it could be that of the three Rich Ricci horses at the top of the market that WPM is favouring sending Sharjah to the race and not Saldier or BDD.

Market deffo suggests KD is not running. Sharjah being smashed.

I'd expect Willie to run more than one.
But it does look like Sharjah will be one of them.

Can't see anyone backing Sharjah Ew at the price especially only 2 places. Agree though if the ground is Soft then he wouldn't appear to have the best chance of Mullins horses. Could just be bookies playing games.

The 'Sharjah' ground preference thing is an absolute myth.
I know connections have mentioned his liking for better ground (most horses prefer good ground) so they're not lying.
But if you look through his form - he's versatile enough.
Of his 5 wins - 2 were on Heavy, 2 were on good and he won the galway hurdle off top weight on soft.
It's a load of bollocks.:devilish:
