Champion Hurdle 2018

Wait for the county hurdle thread lol. Should try him over 3miles in a handicap imo. Prob get into the martin pipe off his mark :devilish:

Sorry, should have stated, as a top horse the hype is surely dead? Did say he's a handicapper at best IMO.

I'm not sure anyone was backing Jenkins as a champion hurdle horse but i still think he is better than a 137 horse, if he puts it all together.

Nothing ground breaking to add here, Faugheen the one to beat, I don't think he could be beaten if he performs like he did today or his Irish Champion Hurdle performance. I do think BVD is potentially better than anything he has faced. I'll be there for the Tuesday so I hope we do get a clash.

Zero % chance Yorkhill is not going chasing now either IMO (again, hardly ground breaking!).

Personally in a great spot with BVD and Faugheen (Melon) to not have to worry about this race so won't be going in on either again for the foreseeable .... BUT

If I had to, I'd prefer 5/1 on BVD than 5/2 on Faugheen as an ante-post bet right now! .... and I am tempted to have something else on BVD at 5/1..... I thought 4/1 was a good price, so pushing him out to 5/1 on the back of nothing is moderately generous in this days market?

5/1 is ridiculously generous IMO. I'd say Faugheen is still fragile despite that performance, I'm happy to have split my stakes on the pair up until today, with a lot of 6/1 Faugheen around and 7/2 BD, and will continue to do so with opposite prices round the other way this time.

I'm still in the BVD camp.

Haven't watched 'The Machines' performance yesterday and prefer to stay ignorant to it! :highly_amused:

You can't ignore it when its right in front of you :triumphant:

do 10yo win Champion Hurdles??????

As a general rule, no, however he is relatively lightly raced for a 10 year old.

My Tent Or Yours was aged 10 when placing (2nd) in the Champion Hurdle this year, and I'm of the opinion, as I'm sure others are that Faugheen is a better horse than MTOY. I am also of the opinion that Faugheen is a freak and has the pure talent to do what no other 10 year old has done for 30+ years and go one better than MTOY to win it!

wouldn't disagree with that COD. mighty impressive performance Sunday.

The last two 10yos to win also won as 11yos.

Bookmakers are continuously cutting Faugheen, I mean so much so that I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's near evens or a shade under before he even runs again!

Great to see my favorite racehorse back , brilliant performance and even better training performance.Convinced had he remained fit , Faugheen would be going for a forth win next march.

I was expecting him to win and to win well , but never in my wildest dreams did i expect to see 16L winning margin.Cant see anything beating him if he gets their in one piece.

This win will have great bearing now on other horses likely March destinations now , they will not want to run against The Machine.

Picture this. A champion hurdle on good to soft ground with Hurricane Fly, Annie Power and Faugheen lining up. Who would win?

It'd be some race.

Faugheen for me, by 3 lengths.

At Cheltenham, Faugheen no doubt.

Did you see Ricci say Faugheen would defintiely have beaten Annie over any trip :)

None, they would all go nr's. :p

Hello everyone btw!! Its that time of year I guess, you guys have done a great job, I have some catching up to do!

I was starting to think you'd left for good LR.

Welcome back and I trust you're well :very_drunk:

I’d have it the other way around, flu was so quick over his hurdles that he’d gain a length at the last when he speeds over it just as the Machine kicks it into orbit
