Champion Chase 2018

As much as I don't like To. Iv just covered min with my 1st bet in the Ryanair at 14/1.
Looks likely to run at the weekend on entries. And I can't see anything troubling him in that race. Will shorten up dramatically if he does run.

I felt I had to do the same a few days ago. Had 2 pts and a speculative double with Douvan(CC).

Without Altior and Douvan, Min is able to compete with anything else out there.

I have Altior in about 90 percent of my multiples now , so will be a big hit if he misses the race ( champ. chs ).

According to mullins douvan is all set for the tingle creek.
According to paddy p. He's NOT.
That s a shame was looking forward to him v fox norton

Douvan is on course to make his long-awaited return to action in the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown.

Trainer Willie Mullins is favouring an outing in the Grade One contest on December 9 over an outing in either the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase or the Hilly Way Chase at Cork.

The eight-times Grade One winner has been sidelined since sustaining a stress fracture to his pelvis when finishing down the field in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March, losing his unbeaten record over fences in the process.

Mullins said: "He has entries in the Hilly Way, John Durkan and Tingle Creek. I would say that the Tingle Creek looks like the one at the moment.

"We have got to pencil one in and the other races will be considered, but the Tingle Creek would be number one. Everything has been very good with him."

I am sure i have read somewhere before season started that Willie reckons Min is a out and out 2 miler.

Contrasting comments in the last week or so, looks like he's now going up in trip

Rory Delargy keen as mustard that Fox Norton is the one to beat in this race on the FFP!

Very, very, very similar situation to Finian's Oscar for me... in terms of which race he would be best suited to!

Unfortunately the 'any race' price wouldn't be exciting enough or worthwhile if he turned up for this race even if both big guns didn't run IMO!

This is the worst race to try and assess this year ante post by a distance. My only interests so far are Min and Great Field, but every chance neither will run. If not and it’s Altior vs Douvan vs Fox Norton then you’d have to be fairly confident that Altior and/or Douvan will put their best foot forward and finish ahead of Fox Norton. Are people suggesting Fox Norton has improved? I can’t see a race that he’s won in the last couple of years that he wasn’t fully entitled to win, and I also can’t see how he has a chance against Altior or Douvan assuming one or the other is near their best. With the market priced how it is I’m even considering going against my urges and just having a watching brief!

Hope MIN does go here as have a hefty return coming back if wins, gonna have to cover the bet a put a few points on for Ryanair.

Fox Norton got a 172 rpr over 2miles at cheltenham this weekend, with doubts about Altior and Douvan and a pretty weak market, Im trying to find reasons not to back Fox Norton at 8/1. Surely this is too big ? Do people think there is a real possibility that he might get stepped up in trip?

I think there is just enough doubt that he'll try the king George now the million pound bonus is off the table.

You could hover over the 8s during the tingle creek?

Should win the tingle creek, pretty confident he'll confirm form over un de sceaux and politologue dosent do near enough at the end of his races. But like you said would you still go king george after winning a tingle creek? not so sure.
I personally think he'd take some beating in a king george.

I nearly put my last 5 squid on fox norton for the Ch. chs last sunday before the Schlur chase at 14-1 , but instead went with
Faugheen at 6-1 in the C.H .

I had 3 pts at 7s when Altior news was breaking for the tingle creek, but if we have some soft ground I think UDS won't be brushed aside easily (although I do feel like I might just be a bigger fan of UDS than the average) ... but if Tizzard now is calling the shots they don't really have anything to lose by trying it? I'd have a go .... if he doesn't stay then he doesn't stay, but I don't think it'd ruin his season.... I hope they go for it..... with Sizing John not running in the betfair chase, perhaps he'll stay in Ireland over Xmas now too - leaving the door open?

Might Bite, Thistlecrack, Fox Norton, Cue Card .... Tizzard all guns blazing :highly_amused:

Looks a very good bet at 7s kev.
I know all the potts horses are paid for until retirement, but no idea how much his children would like to be involved in calling the shots.

Fox Norton*is set for*the Betfair Tingle Creek at Sandown a fortnight on Saturday, and Tizzard is not ruling out adding*the Champion Chase runner-up to his 32Red King George team on Boxing Day.

Not learned much but it's being considered as you'd fully assume

Cheers guys, going to chance the 8/1 Champ Chase win only, if he doesnt run then so be it. FWIW I think hes much more likely to run in this race and hopefully he it proves right. I dont think Altior will make the race, Nicky increasingly treats his horses like pets and the view im taking is that its odds on that Altior wont run, theres enough horses in the same ownership and stable to cast enough doubt on him running in the Gold Cup and id be 75% sure he will run here if fit which makes Fox Norton a bet, all things considered.
