Champion Bumper 2020

I love a hype horse as much as the next bloke, but have I missed something on Ballyadam?

His ptp has generated a grand total of 2 wins both in the ptp spectrum, appreciate he’s been talked up but his price is ridiculous

I thought exactly the same HF, wasn’t sure what I’d missed.

Another example of how hard the bookies make it. I can only think they have taken some amount of money on him and only reason can be connections to last years winner.

I totally agree the price is no value to what it has done or achieved. Expectations, with same owner and trainer of last years winner and hype horse off the Novice hurdle division Envoi Allen is gunna gather momentum and support.

However, yes we are all as punters looking for value and too beat the bookies, but from thier perspective, they know people are going to still back the horse even at the price it is now. Another thing could be due to the hype they have already took a load of money for it at double figures and they can't afford to take anymore money on it at them sort of prices?

I'm only on at 12s and 10s NRNB. Reluctantly as already have too many in the race, most that probably wont even give me a run for my money! But if he wins well what price does he go then? Bookmakers cut him straight away? More people pile in on it, they sort of have to?

Can't believe I'm sliding with the competition (the bookies) but in a sense I can see logic behind it. Even if it is shit value to us!

Agreed BB. I wouldn't have been keen playing him at double figures with NRNB because he'll only turn up if he does something exceptional imo.

He was the perfect nrnb horse, now we just need to see if there's any substance behind the hype.

I’d be interested to know if he stayed at 33s would more or less people pile in?

I wouldn’t be too keen on a horse with only 1 run under flags with it coming 3 weeks before the fez

The shorter the price gets, the more people back him.

They're wrong to do so.

When people feel they've missed a gamble, there is a compulsion to get involved.
People were still backing Red Indian a few weeks ago when he was tipped at 25/1, he ended up a well beaten 5/1f.

FOMO betting, must cater for the cast majority of people backing Ballyadam now.

Jamie Codd appeared very coy when asked about Ballyadam today after racing. He also thought plenty of the bumper winner who did it very nicely, perhaps one for the Aintree mares bumper?!

It's a certain fact that, based on the form of the ptp win. he ia a ridiculous price for this race. He won well enough (here's the video) http://www.tattersallscheltenham.com/sales/cheltenham-november-sale/4DCGI/Sale/CNO 19/Main/Overview but the 3rd Premium Access was beaten much more easily by Wide Receiver in (what was admittedly) his first ptp. And that's only relevant because he's the only one to come out of Ballyadam's race and win since - and he has run poorly in his two hurdle races since being sold. All the others who have run since have not shown any form. The price is based on what Jamie Codd said in the Racing Post (the horse he was most looking forward to ride) and that Noel Meade saw him win a schooling bumper. We'll know more tomorrow and, like others have said, congratulations to those on at big odds NRNB!

Has anyone seen any specials with this Ballyadam? Win today and the festival bumper? Probably still be only be 8/1 :encouragement:

...pop, another bumper bubble burst.

:highly_amused:

I don't think anybody will have been burned by that, but that was hilarious.

Apologies if you have.....kind of?

Easier to bet on 2yo Maidens than Bumper races

Poor ride

But yes he’s obviously not as good as the 7/1 without running anticipated
