Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2020

Nice Navan G2 entries for the weekend over 2m4.

Andy Dufresne and Elixir D'ainay in there

Would be nice if JP let them sort themselves out.
He has done so before with slight lesser lights like Coney island and bleu et rouge.

Envoi Allen is now 1/3 to run in this race (Ballymore) after opening up 13/8 with PaddyPower

Personally, delighted to see that. Was a bit taken aback when he opened up fav to run in the Supreme!

Think I’ll be cashing my Supreme bet for nearly 6 times profit very soon.

Shot to nothing so no harm done.

Completely unrelated but nice to see mr lingo entered up over hurdles too. He obviously must have had his issues. But looked very nice in his ptp.

Battleoverdoyen had a similar profile.

I’m debating whether to do the same or hold off until NRNB. Can anyone remember when it was last year?

He's been entered up a good few times in recent weeks.

When i was down in Elliots 2 Octobers ago, he was in the stable, and i was told what was wrong with him then, but forget what the problems were tbh.

He’s one I’ve had in the tracker for ages after a couple of glowing references from Jamie Codd, was considering giving him the boot with the lack of news/entries over the years. He’s been entered up the last few weeks without a dec.

Hopefully see him on the racecourse soon, he may be a nice type for a Pertemps/Martin Pipe at the festival, needs to get the runs in now & how much ability is still there after such a long absence is another story.

Anyone an idea when the entries for the Lawlos of Naas Novice Hurdle will be up? It’s on the 05/01, I thought the grade 1 entries are usually published 1 month in advance.

Entries close tomorrow.

The Navan Grade 2 Novice Hurdle over 2M4F has the best set of 5-day entries seen all season.

It’s a special race as a Grade 2 and invariably the winner of this race has ended a short-priced Festival runner in their chosen race, usually the Ballymore or Bartlett.

Historically the last 9 winners of this race have ran in a Festival Novice, and none of them have started in March above 11/1, with 6 of the 9 at 4/1 or lower. Bizarrely none have won though four have placed.

Last nine winners and subsequent Festival run details

2018 Easy Game (WPM) - 2019 Ballymore 7/1 (8th)
2017 Next Destination (WPM) - 2018 Ballymore 4/1 (3rd)
2016 Death Duty (Gordon) - 2017 Albert Bartlett 13/8F (PU)
2015 Bellshill (WPM) - 2016 Supreme 11/1 (Unpl)
2014 No More Heroes (Gordon) - 2015 Albert Bartlett 6/1 (3rd)
2013 Briar Hill (WPM) - 2014 Albert Bartlett 2/1F (Fell early)
2012 Pont Alexandra (WPM) - 2013 Ballymore 6/4F (3rd)
2011 Boston Bob (WPM) - 2012 Albert Bartlett 6/5F (2nd)
2010 Oscars Well (J Harrington) - 2011 Ballymore 4/1 (4th)

Sunday’s race is a significant race for Festival Ante Post Novice Markets, the nine entries on Sunday currently have the following best prices in the three Festival Novice races.

Andy Dufresne 20/1 Supreme, 9/1 Ballymore, 14/1 Albert Bartlett
Abacadabras 9/1 Supreme, 20/1 Ballymore, 25/1 Albert Bartlett
Easywork 33/1 Supreme, 33/1 Ballymore
Fury Road 33/1 Supreme, 33/1 Ballymore, 20/1 Albert Bartlett
Elixir D’Ainay 33/1 Supreme, 25/1 Ballymore
Latest Exhibition 50/1 Supreme, 66/1 Ballymore, 66/1 Albert Bartlett
Sixshooter 66/1 Supreme, 50/1 Ballymore, 50/1 Albert Bartlett
Conflated - no current a/p prices
Thatsy - no current a/p prices.

It’s clear that the Post race market moves for Festival races after this Grade 2 are important.

I will be really interested which ones Gordon picks to run given he has 6 of the 9 entries this year.

May have a little each way play on Sixshooter in this, trained by Noel Meade, Has been running between 2m and 2m4 and taken some notable scalps including The Big Getaway in May and Soviet Pimpernel in March (both over 2m), was beaten LTO by Franco De Port the last time. Has an entry at Navan on Sunday over 20f

.... thinking about it 'Any Race' will be my play 25 's with WH. boost available

Post race Longhouse Poet comments

7Dec19 Navan (20Sft, RPR 130)
He's a nice horse and we'll find out a bit more about him when he steps into something else. I don't have any plan with him but he could get an entry for the Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle in January. Derek seems to be quite impressed with him anyway, he's never got beaten on him. He felt he's a horse to look forward to, maybe for bigger and better days. We won't know that until we delve into that area but it's nice to have a horse like him. I don't think we'd come back in trip, two and a half miles is grand. There's no point in getting him out of his comfort zone when you don't have to - Martin Brassil, trainer of Longhouse Poet

I'm liking the sound of that JackieMoon , Topped up again before he ran on Saturday ,.
Although the price hasn't changed much anyhow.:encouragement:

Also interesting to see an entry for Faugheen’s half brother Osmotic. Trained by Elliott, owned by Gigginstown.

That did surprise me Longhouse Poet. I too topped up on him expecting his price to half if he won and nothing happened

I’m not too worried about the lack of price movement, if anything it provides another chance to back him again. I’m hoping Elixir D’ainay will be out soon and up in grade to provide some substance to the form. I’d fancy Longhouse Poet to get closer if they met again on better ground.

Elixir D’Ainay is one of nine entries for a Group 2 over 2M4F on Sunday.
A list of the entries and a brief history of recent winners of the races are on the previous page.

Yeah, hopefully he’s declared.

Will JP allow his two to take each other on this weekend?

That would be a very exciting match up.

Cheveley Parks racing manager says no need to step EA up from 2 miles until he's beaten at that trip. The biggest hint yet imo that the Supreme will be his ultimate target. Also confirmed 2 staples in cut from last race.
