Sounds like he'll stick to 2 though based on what they have said if he is ok at Xmas
 
Christmas target for exciting novice hurdler Envoi Allen will not be decided until nearer the time.
The unbeaten five-year-old, who won the Cheltenham Bumper in March and is already a Grade One winner over hurdles, is currently one of the most talked about horses in racing.
Owned by Cheveley Park Stud and trained by Gordon Elliott, he has quotes as short as 8-1 for the Champion Hurdle, such was the impression he created in winning the Royal Bond, and does have the option of running in the Matheson Hurdle against his elders at Leopardstown.
He is also engaged in the Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle or could even wait for the Lawlor’s of Naas Hurdle, a Grade One over two and a half miles on January 5 – if connections decide to step up in trip.
“He’s got a couple of options and we’ll all have a discussion and make a call nearer the time,” said Cheveley Park’s Chris Richardson.
“He’s in the two-mile Grade One and the novice, obviously, so we’ll look at the opposition and see how things are.
“He came out of Fairyhouse well, he did have a little nick on a front pastern which required a couple of staples, but I don’t think it’s of any significance. We’ll just see how he is before Christmas.”
There has been plenty of talk over which trip Envoi Allen will eventually be seen at his best, but Richardson sees no reason to move up just yet while his winning streak continues to extend.
“We keep saying he wants stepping up in trip, but until he’s beaten at two miles there’s probably no need to. It looked like Gordon’s other horse (Abacadabras) was going to come with more speed, but his stamina told and he stayed on well,” said Richardson.
“He keeps finding when he’s asked the question. We’ll be looking at his options, but we’re happy at two miles for now.”
He added: “The Thompsons (owners) are loving it, Mr Thompson decided he wanted to have some Cheltenham horses and luckily they are nice horses. To get one like Envoi Allen is a dream come true.”
As well as Envoi Allen, the famous red, white and blue silks were carried to victory at Cheltenham in March by Henry de Bromhead’s A Plus Tard, and he will also be in action at Leopardstown over Christmas.
“A Plus Tard will go for the Grade One over two miles at Leopardstown on December 27,” said Richardson.

Makes sense, if he racks up 2M Grade 1’s at Christmas and at DRF that will be wins in five Grade 1’s in Bumper and Novice Hurdles over 2M. Cheveley Park have no other crack Novices to juggle, so connections don’t need to change trip unless he loses in his races from now to Cheltenham.

And wheres he going at christmas?
Abacadbras has been backed for the top novices hurdle. The entries will be out very shortly for the 2m4 lawlors of Naas.

If you believe he'll go for the supreme why take 9/2 when you can get 5/2 just for him to run in it.

Maybe because he'll win the Supreme. Rather top up at 9/2. Will stick him in some multiples now as well.

Just keeping their options open and who can blame them. Plenty of water to go under the bridge with all of the opposition.

Nice position to be in knowing the horse would probably win either the Supreme or the Ballymore as easily.
 
It's the people who's backed him for both or all 3 (CH) that I feel sorry for. Hes clearly going to run in the ballymore.

Until he’s beaten at two miles there’s PROBABLY no need to step him up in trip. One word but could be a costly one unless you have cash out!

Lobos might be able to enlighten.

As soon as it goes NRNB, cashout will be removed on all antepost bets prior, Which will shock a few people

Any bet in a race before NRNB will be available to cashout until that race is NRNB. Afterwards it wont be able to be cashed out and completely blank where the cashout option was. I have on authority that this will be the case with PP, which is where lobos would be placing that bet. I couldn't comment on any other bookmakers.
 
IF Envoi Allen did stay at 2 miles in his next couple of runs, and the ground also came up heavy for March.
It'll make it a little harder for sure to enter the Ballymore.
I don't personally think it'd make much a difference if he's carried on winning in style, which race he runs in.
So I'd say Gordon wouldn't be scared either way too.
Just ever so slightly riskier trying something new on the big day.
I expect we'll see him over 2m 4f before cheltenham myself, especially if the Ballymore IS THE PLAN ?

It is a relatively new venture for them so we couldn't be sure how they'd play it I suppose. The calculations they use to determine cash out percentages are different to competitors also, as most would have gathered.

And to be fair, we can't be be sure how 365 will play the game this year either.

No Guarantees in this game.
except Abacadabra's won't win the supreme of course :highly_amused:
