Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2020

It’s as good an early season novice hurdle on paper as I can recall! Hopefully lives up to expectations, I’m sure it will!

I'd want abacadabras to be going close, iv no excuses.

I still think embittered has a fair chance of being involved. I'd already backed him for tomorrow at 25s ew. Which will be my only bet kn the race itself. But 33s were available earlier. I dont get why hes as big as that.

I'm happy to excuse him as long as he's not tailed off.

Only backed Midnight Run E/W

On Midnight Run myself today EW and will be looking to add him during the race if he's bang there.

I can't let that pass without mentioning Airlie Beach's Royal Bond where the field included the subsequent Supreme and Albert Bartlett winners. None of the three started favourite.

From memory this day last year all the bookies suspended for the race...

OR

They didn't and I was shocked.

Now imagine needing to make a decision based on that memory :highly_amused:

Bloody ell spot on Archie, great stat that

Exactly this, regarding the Royal Bond

Perfect result I think personally. The stayer beating the 2miler, which usually happens in the Royal Bond. Good race and food result for all bets IMO.

Very giddy about him, what a horse he could end up being

Not arguing that Envoi Allen wouldn't win the Supreme, because he probably would....

but he's the Ballymore winner.

If only all races went that well from an ante post perspective :highly_amused:

110%

PP/Betfair go 2's now! Put the false 4's up past couple of weeks didn't they

He is a machine, he will win wherever he goes. Really enjoyed that,

He would win either race without a shadow of doubt for me.

Just done the Abracadabras Supreme / Envoi Allen Balymore double at 58/1 with Bet365

Very impressed with that. Abacadabras looked like he was closing briefly after the last, got to his rear and Envoi Allen took off again.

Really hope he comes here as sitting on a 5pt double at 14s with Paisley Park at 5s. Both look unbeatable.

The front two ran very tidy there today. Envoi is very economical over his hurdles for such a big horse. Tailor made for this race. We’ll hopefully see how well he stays at Naas in January but I’ve no doubts about that!

On another note Joseph O’Brien has to get Midnight Run right up in trip now. They were going too quick for him today and he’s not slick enough over his hurdles yet for a sharp trip. Rachel wise to sit up on him after he came to a halt after clattering the 2nd last

“That’s a relief but they are two very good horses. We like Abacadabras a lot and we think Envoi Allen is the real thing," said Elliott.

“The one thing that could beat him is a slow pace and we had to do all our own donkey work. His jumping was class apart from the last.

“He could step up in trip but I’ll have to talk to Davy and the owners and we’ll make out mind up. He’ll be entered in everything and could run next at Christmas or Naas (Grade 1 Lawlors Novice Hurdle).”

Interesting that PP have shortened Andy Dufresne to 7/1 for this race after today.

RP Monday Jury

What was your verdict on the two big novice races at Fairyhouse on Sunday?

Noel Fehily, former jockey I was very impressed with Fakir D’Oudairies, who clearly loves jumping fences and looks a very good horse. You had to be impressed by Envoi Allen too. His bumper form was top drawer and he’s looked good in both starts over hurdles. I think he’ll be even better when he goes up in trip.

Micky Hammond, trainer Envoi Allen was impressive and looks a machine, he jumps well and it looks as though you can ride him whichever way you want. Fakir D’Oudairies jumped exceptionally well and has bags of scope for a four-year-old. He could be even better back at two miles. Over this trip it might have fallen Samcro’s way – his was a novicey mistake.

Patrick Mullins, jockey Samcro looks like he is back to his best. He was giving Fakir D’Oudairies 8lb and probably would have beaten him too. Envoi Allen looks like he could do anything he wants in life.

Amy Murphy, trainer Envoi Allen was a top bumper horse last year and showed he can also jump when making all in the Royal Bond for Cheveley Park Stud. He looks a natural for the Supreme. It would have been fascinating to see how Samcro would have fared in the Drinmore if he had stayed on his feet. Fakir D’Oudairies didn’t look to be stopping and may well have won anyway.

Kevin O'Malley, Tote spokesman Envoi Allen looks ideal for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and a range of top races in the future. He stands out a mile and backs up the imposing frame where it matters. Runner-up Abacadabras is no slouch, either. Drinmore winner Fakir D’Oudairies jumps like a bunny and looks an Arkle type, while Samcro’s jumping is a concern.

Patrick Mullins, jockey Honeysuckle was terrific. She really came of age in the Hatton’s Grace and I hope she and Rachael Blackmore can go right to the top together. As for Envoi Allen, if I could buy one horse right now in Ireland or Britain it would definitely be him.
