Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2020

From the post race reports:

"Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer of Dlauro (FR), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge burst a blood vessel."

"The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Dlauro (FR), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race."

Can a horse fully recover from burst blood vessels? I assume that depends upon how badly they bled? Given this information should we expect to see Dlauro out again this year?

There are other races apart from hurdle races to watch which can provide clues to the puzzle, sometimes big clues.

The grade 2 bumper at xams "Tracked leaders on outer in 3rd, on terms 4f out and soon led narrowly, ridden over 2f out, kept on well under strong pressure final furlong"

The Champion Bumper "Strong; lengthy; scope; will make a jumper; looked well; held up, headway 5f out, led over 3f out, ridden over 1f out, strongly pressed inside final furlong, ran on gamely and found extra near finish"

You can interpret these things how you like, he left me with the visual impression that he will be harder to beat over 2m 4f than 2m at this years festival. The RP in running comments do little to change my mind. If people want to back him for the Supreme then I wish them luck.

It depends for me, you look at him over hurdles and he was electric. If he keeps that up i see no reason why he'd be any better over 2m4 as a novice. I am not saying over his whole career. We have seen Mullins send out supreme horses that patently stay further than 2 miles in the Supreme. He's kept it simple and gone from the front. If Envoi continues to display what he has from his debut i don't see why he wouldn't.
Early days and everyones assuming he's a virtually a cert already.

Bleeders tend to bleed again so can’t be trusted, but there have been plenty of very horses who have bled but if they’re given sufficient time between races they can still perform to their best.
No set time rules but if a horse is given 60+ days between I’d be happy backing them...

I am fairly certain Footpad has burst too....and after an extended spell off he's looked semi back to his best so think you're right

Do we all make a bit too much of what trips they run over this early?

It isn't like Envoi Allen is skipping a Grade 1 2m5f Novice Hurdle on the same day to run over 2 miles.

If he doesn't run this weekend where is he supposed to go?

I'm personally absolutely thrilled to read that he's said Abacadbras is a speedy type - he looked that way and I'm still on for the Supreme.
I'm also still confident Envoi Allen will go in the race they think suits him best as he's their #1 and the rest of the battalion will fit in around HIM, and not the other way around.

There was a huge reaction on here when Malone Road was out to cash out and get EWnvoi Allen backed "any race" or for the Supreme, personally I think that was a bit premature however fullness of time will reveal that. I'm obviously a little swayed in thinking he'll go for the race I've backed him in :highly_amused:

Still got to prove they're good enough though, Elliott won't be winning all the Novice Hurdle events all season.

Sprinter Sacre would say Yes ! Sorry, I'm pissed so that can't be true.........

Didnt he have a heart problem i can't actually remember

Yeah, fibby-heart syndrome.

....and Sprinter definitely didn't return to his peak powers. He was just special.

I didn't realise that!

Pretty sure it was on his comeback race after his heart issue. What a horse he was. Sends shivers down my spine now. Remember backing him at 66/1 to win the Cheltenham Bumper after bolting up on his debut......he never turned up. The rest is history!

It Sure Is declared at Newbury tomorrow over 2m4f. Up against Faustinovick who is well thought of and has race fitness on his side.

Do You Wanna know runs for Longsdon too and he could give a bit of a form line to Longhouse Poet.

King Roland declared over 2m at Newbury tomorrow. Up against one of Hendersons better bumper horses in Son Of Camas who also has race fitness. It will be impressive if the King wins this over what I feel will be too short a trip.

Brewers project worth a mention too, his ptp has worked out very well, and he won it with alot of authority. Could be nice.

I know Jackie M. Has mentioned him previously. But I think CHANTRY HOUSE is worth another mention as his forms been stacking up and he's due to run next week.

His bumper has worked out nicely, the 2nd and 3rd from his bumper have ran quality hurdles debuts, where chantry house was pushed out to the line to be well on top of them.

Shiskin has been highly touted as has jp's dlauro, they were visually impressive but there was simply no depth there, I wouldnt be surprised at all, if chantry house is the better horse.

I couldn't be certain whether hes a ballymore or albert bartlett horse, but he starts over 2m on sat.. and will be an interesting watch.

Shan blue runs tomorrow in what looks to be a big ask in a very strong looking novice hurdle.

Im yet to back chantry house. But I'd ideally want to see shan blue run respectably here. As to me it seems good form.

And Ask for Glory who will be no mug either

IT SURE IS into 3/1, were did that come from? Support for SHAN BLUE aswell. I like the form off both of these and probably prices about right now. It Sure is was 7s this morning!!

Really happy with that from King Roland, as it will almost certainly have been a trip too short as he was running on the closer to the post they got. Jumping will need to be tidied up a bit, but that comes with time and experience.
