Arkle 2019

I think we know that wasn't VDR's true running, form lines through Mind's Eye & Hardline give him the stuffing of the 2nd placed horse, but good they might revert him to longer trips now.

VDR won't be winning this. I'll be surprised if he even makes it to the starting line-up.

What's everyone's view on Getabird today? Surely won't be coming here or possibly anywhere near Cheltenham (jumped a bit right again)?

Time will tell. Atleast wait until cashout is full value.

I hope he doesn't either, I want him in the JLT myself, which is why I'm kinda happy he was beat today tbh.

Straight After the race. Cashed for 2.5 x money.
Backed le richebourg at 22/1 with lads.

What happened to not backing another horse in the Arkle? You even 'promised' :highly_amused:

Oh sh*t. That I did do. It's almost a new year though. And replaced like for like if that counts. :highly_amused:

At that price it would have been rude not to. Were there any post race comments as to his next race or target. I’ve got him for the JLT but it looks like he’d be competitive in either.

O'Brien said,
“Mark gave him a lovely ride and he jumped very well. The last day he ran a cracker, but I think the tempo of a two-mile race probably suited him better.

“He was good over hurdles, but probably disappointed us slightly and since he’s gone over fences he’s been very good.

“The obvious thing to do would be to come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival. More than likely he’s an Arkle horse.”

He added, “Us And Them was always going to be better over fences than hurdles. He jumps fantastic and ran a cracker.”

Wanted Klashnikov on side but when he wins tomorrow he'll be even shorter....probably the only danger from the English side, hoping either cilaos or Le Richbourg win this........
Anyone fancy anything other than the main principles

I have Lalor & le richebourg covered but think it is ripe for a boil over - based on last year you couldn’t back any Joseph horse after Leopardstown in February for 3 + months.

Kalashnikov is weak in the betting for today's race, even though he is getting 5 lbs off DD.

Not sure what the market will look like at end of play today.

This will be unpopular, but I'd love Kalashnikov to get beaten today.

Missed the prices (as I fancied him for the JLT) and I already consider him too short, if he wins today I don't think his price will ever relent.

I missed the prices too , for the same reason as you Kev, But I do want him to win , I want him to blow the others away
and give us a reason to say he's a worthy favourite at this time .

He's one I'm desperate to take on in the Arkle. If he wins today he'll shorten again and that's when I'll lay him, a beating and he could be stepped up in trip.

I think this market needs a horse to 'blow us away'.

Step forward (after a miracle recovery) Draconien. :highly_amused:

Cilaos emery all day. He'll win a minor event very easily and go straight into 5/1< wait and see. Kalashnikovs a worthy fav atm but the novice form is trash compared to the open grade 1 form
