Arkle 2018

Thought Sceau ran well and off levels would of been a nice winner. With a really fast pace in the Arkle (if he gets there) I think it will suit him far better. As i said before defeat today running well isnt going to deter me. Think he still has a nice ew chance, hopefully he gets there come March.

I thought Sceau Royal ran well too but I would liked to have seen Daryl make more use of him. It's all a learning experience though, and he'll have learnt plenty there.

MWTT surely bred to go further?

He is and that was causing me a dilemma with this horse. Travelled great over 2 miles last year but you just don't get Presenting progeny winning the big races over 2miles.

Sometimes I need to listen to my own advice :)

watched full race three times , convinced we didnt see NO Arkle winner today. Dont think any will even place , just my opinion.

Petit Mouchoir out until 2018 :sorrow: I just hope they put him away and he somehow makes it to Cheltenham. Expected return is February, so could make it in time!

Dual Grade One-winning hurdler and Arkle Trophy favourite Petit Mouchoir is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a setback.

Henry de Bromhead's charge won both the Ryanair Hurdle and the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown last season before finishing third in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

He made an impressive start to his career over fences at Punchestown earlier this month and is a best priced 8-1 market-leader for the Arkle at Prestbury Park next March.

However, he may not return to competitive action until the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown in early February.

De Bromhead said: " Unfortunately he is going be out until after Christmas as he has just had a little setback. We just found that out in the last couple of days.

"It is a bit of a shame but we're aiming to have him back for the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown at the new Champions Weekend there.

"Hopefully it is only a minor setback. He has just had an issue with a joint. We've tidied it up and the vet is happy with it.

"We were lucky to spot it and it's onwards and upwards now."

It may be quite lucky that he has already lost his novice status for next season.

I'm taking some comfort, for now, that at least if he's sidelined until February that, fingers crossed, there is less chance of any other problems. Just hope he makes it back, and to Cheltenham in time.

Great point Scooby. If he's fit and well in March, I'd expect him to take his chance

Finians Oscar. Still 14/1.

Yes Kev, I wasted no time in getting more on FO, in both singles & multiples!

If Petit Mouchoir does not make it then this could be the worst Arkle in my years of racing.

It could be up there with Forpaddydeplaster's Arkle.

If I knew footpad was being targeted at the arkle, the 33s would look huge. I know munir dosent have a problem running 2 in a race.
Ie lami serge/ Bristol de mai in the jlt
If Daryl rode sceau royal, that would leave ruby the choice
He does go novice chasing
but obviously this may not be his target,

Another one I looked at Scooby, so many questions about a lot of these currently which is why PM was the obvious answer, now he is out for a little bit the whole market is up in the air for me.

I am still hopeful he will make the festival, and his price will hold or indeed drift now, whilst he is on the sidelines.

Drifted already out to 12s

Race against time with PM , wide open now

It is, but if they're hoping to be back by February I'd be confident, assuming there are no further issues, that Cheltenham is still on the agenda.

If he got to Cheltenham without another run I'd still be confident.

I have PM, but to be honest I am struggling to find an alternative

Just thinking aloud .. (close your eyes C.O.D ! ) If Petite mouchoir does make it back in time for cheltenham ,
any chance they might go back to
hurdles as possibly he won't have had much time over fences ??.

Haha, I had actually thought about this prior to his Chase debut anyway, managed to get some of the 240's on the exchanges for the CH 'just in case' this were to happen, no large stakes mind, managed to already lay it off for a lot shorter (around 120 average I think maybe a bit higher) too, so sitting happy with him should he revert back there, although I don't think he's good enough to beat Faugheen or Buveur D'air over hurdles.

As I had him covered so much for the Arkle I felt I needed some extra protection should things not go to plan!
