Arkle 2018

He'll have to hugely improve his jumping to stand any chance in the Arkle. Not impossible but he looks a clumsy boat at the moment. It will be interesting to see who Willie finally starts here but I'd expect him to beat FO.

Shantou rock back out tomorrow, his form has worked out pretty well and id expect him to win in the same manner tomorrow. He's a very progressive horse and 40/1 could look a bit of an insult.

To be noted that skelton also has Mr miyagi and north hill Harvey for 2m novice chases, but shantou rock would look the most progressive.

Came on to post about this.... got quite a lot in hand tomorrow so might not affect his price. If I see another very nice round of front running and leaping I'll have another bet on him

The price of a horse seems to be about visual impression and hype/ whispers rather than substance these days.

Shantou rock broke the track record at newton abbot

I agree prices are weighted based on reputation, trainer and owner, however, how many top class horses have run at Newton Abbot in a competitive race? :)

I'm not saying he should be 20/1 < but on his last run if you changed his name to chacun pour soi (inc.. owner/ trainer) he'd be single figures now. And people would be raving about him.

Ricci could own a shire horse and he'd be listed in the betting for the 4 miler

Lol :). It's funny but true.
Must be some pressure on him as an owner, and the likes of Pierre boullard/ Harold kirk who buy the horses.
Every horse in his colours is expected to be a machine no matter what the previous form.

I was hoping so much that Western Warhorse had :highly_amused:

To be fair, the local trainers including Nicholls do run horses there early season but I'd doubt he'd be instructing the jockeys to go hell for leather.

Very unlikely at his age. But I find it interesting that arctic fire isn't entered up in the races mullins block enters them over hurdles. He's normally always entered up when fit. So I would have to assume he's had a set back. Unless he miraculously went novice chasing which I understand is very unlikely.

Shantou rock beaten. Went too fast too early but no excuses. If he ever had a chance in the arkle he'd want to be winning that race easily.

I agree.

He always goes off fast so there can be zero excuses in my opinion.

Any thoughts on the winner?

Lost his way last season over hurdles, though ran a cracker at the festival in the County Hurdle. Hard to make of one run over fences, but suspect he should go on from there, that said, I think many on here expected the same of Shantou Rock, so only time will tell I guess.

Not seen the race or result so that's disappointing to read. I was taken with him and had 0.5 pts at 40/1 ... no excuses and agree he should have been winning it easily so never mind.

One less horse for Finian's Oscar to orry about though :p

Pleased I got RIVER WYLDE 20's today before he next runs.

BRAIN POWER*is in excellent form and schooled beautifully yesterday. He’ll work again tomorrow and the plan is to send him to Kempton on the 27th*November for a 2m2f Novice, which I think we won with*ALTIOR*last year.

Nicky is on RUK with Nick Luck and he said the only horse he has that has the gears to work with Altior is Brain Power.
