Albert Bartlett 2020

Think he will struggle to keep up myself. Agree with Jackie and F_M. Needs a deluge.

Impossible to rule out.

Will have THE most experience, be THE most battle-harded, be THE highest rated **(total guess):victorious:

He has won on Good to Soft before, has a 2nd in Good ground.

It's not going to be any better than Good to Soft so I'm not going to use ground as an excuse.

I think the runner up would almost certainly have beaten him on G/S today and not sure hes Championship level!.

Think he will be top rated or close to it.
And it's more than likely a truer reflection than the ratings given to the proper novices, given his overall form.

Not always a Championship level horse that wins this race....

He might end up being a Grand National winner too...

I think he's better than you're giving credit for.... but it's a race I like loads in, and usually do :highly_amused:

Still 16/1
I might top up on him actually, I do really think he's a likely sort for the race.

Will be interesting to see his price, ordinarily I would think he could stay on to a place but I think it’s win or bust, why waste his National to plug on into 4th

Slick jumper for someone who has been over a fence

What makes you think he's a win or bust type horse?

The horse clearly gives his all..... the jockey will be a passenger as he's grinding his way up the rail :highly_amused:

I don’t think the horse is win or bust but those would be the instructions I’d give to the jockey, if he’s outpaced on the bend don’t go hell for leather for a minor place

I may be going crazy but I cannot get over the price disparity between Ramses and The Butcher Said. The former is 12/1 in places but 14/1 with Unibet who go 100/1 the latter. On the Cheltenham October form there is nothing between them with Ramses winning by 4 1/2 lengths in receipt of 8 pounds. Factoring in the fact he relished the heavy ground whereas The Butcher Said would have hated it, would make you think things could be very different on better ground. The Butcher Said's only run since was in a race run at a crawl for the first 2 mies and he wasn't able to pick up off the slow pace.He will be much fresher than most of these and 66/1 nrnb could be the way to go.

I would agree. He has travelled all over the winner and just got outstayed. They have placed the winner well but the Albert Bartlett will be a step too far.

There is every chance that the Festival could have soft ground again this year, therefore by Friday, if rain also falls during the week, I wouldn’t discount Ramses De Teillee at all. In fact I would be adding him to my bets on this race.

Always room for 100/1 shots BoF!

Travelling best and getting outstayed is not a quality I'd want in a horse running in the Albert Bartlett.

The stick to beat Ramses De Teillee with is that he only won because he stayed on the best?

I'll take that all day... assuming we get anything near good ground is a big mistake.

Would anyone talk me out of cashing out The Big Getaway in this race? All the signs are that he’s going for the shorter race, no?

Assume you could cash and put some back NRNB at a decent enough price given the strength of the head of the market

I probably should have given more context but yes I think you might be right there Muswell. I have 1.5pts EW at 28/1 and can cash for about 1.8x stake. I’ve only just realised he’s as big as 14s nrnb with Sky so I think the way to go is probably give up the EW element and reinvest win only NRNB.

Lord Royal (Willie/Paul Townend) and Floueur (Gordon/Davy Russell) clash tomorrow in the Grade 3 Mercedes Benz Novice Hurdle over 3M.

Last year Allaho won by 4 lengths from Minella Indo, receiving 3lb from MI.

This time Floueur has to give Lord Royal 6lb. I think both are live ones for the Albert Bartlett, and if Floueur can get anywhere close to Lord Royal (or beat him) on those weights then he could be close to Albert Bartlett favourite by tomorrow afternoon.

Floueur is still 40/1 NRNB for the Albert Bartlett (also with Cashout with one firm).

It's a good little race tomorrow, de bromhead's horse might be ok too, and there's others in there with formlines.

it is a good race Q, need to check the Bartlett entries amongst them, there could be some big prices to look at NRNB before the race.

Add Fully Charged into the mix, (HdB/Rachael) who won by 22 lengths in a Maiden Hurdle in Heavy ground at Limerick at Christmas and this is the race that Henry De Bromhead uses every year for his Albert Bartlett horse.

HdB's recent record in this race:-
2019 Minella Indo 2nd in this race, Won Albert Bartlett at 50/1
2018 Chris's Dream won this race, Ran unplaced in the Albert Bartlett at 6/1
2017 Monalee won this race, 2nd Albert Bartlett at 8/1
All became Grade 1 horses.

Fully Charged has the Bartlett and Ballymore entries, time to take 50/1 NRNB for the Bartlett for me.
