Albert Bartlett 2020

Trying to make case for a different thought

Think the standard in this race is improving rapidly .....and shortish price horses have been close recently. Minella Indo looks top horse just over priced on day

With all money now being invested into horses by top owners, more and more good horses will go here

So, might be a race to do ante post more going forwards?

Personally, done a few already....incl Fury Road

Can always add a few long shots on day on exchange.....I got about 60s on MI last year with small bet

My issue is that backing ante post forces the longshots on the day, so as an over arching strategy, it doesn't lend itself as well to ante post as other races that you know will have fewer runners for example.

4 months from now I might have a big book, I've already been tempted by Tyhme Hill today and only 2 days have passed since I said I don't want to back anything :very_drunk:

I reached the same conclusion last year. Zero interest till final decs as its a race I have done terribly in AP.

PS. I tried replying to your PM but your inbox is full.

I thought it was strange I hadn't received a PM for a bit :highly_amused:

I think Andy Dufrense will end up in this race after that performance today, he cruised past the line, he cope with a few more furlongs and be very competitive at the distance

Elliott has jsut said he won't be going up in trip

Gordon just said he won't be going up in trip, more than likely down,
did look too pacey didn't he ??

2m please ..lol

watching the 2 elliott horses today, abacadabra's and andy dufresne.
It's easy to think 2 miles for one and further for the other.
But I'd say it's more than likely that they end up the opposite in March.

Midnight Run is entered up for the 2m6f for auction maiden at Punchestown on Sunday.

More than likely abacadabras steps up in trip, really?

He looks a 2miler all over

Absolutely. If anyone is in any doubt Keith Donaghue said after the race 'Abacadabras is a very quick horse who won't want more than 2 miles and I've no doubt he'll give Envoi Allen something to think about in the Royal Bond at Fairyhouse in a few weeks'.

Wasn't that deep a race the other day.
Who knows where they'll end up ?
Just tend to think that Elliotts 2 milers quite often get beat once they step up from maiden company, Gigginstown don't tend to buy speedy types.
Just something I'm wary of, so when they win these 2 mile maidens I'm often concerned that they will be found out when upped in class.
Could easily go the other way.
The comment was mainly with regard to people often assuming that a horse's best graded trip is the one they start off in maidens at.

Good news as I want him at that trip. He was entered in the Royal Bond which seemed strange after that entry.

We'll soon find out. probably.

Yeah that had me a little concerned too but looked like Joseph just block entered his better novices into the RB.

He did specify in his Racing Post Stable Tour he may take in a for auction maiden considering he only cost 12 grand so I was hoping to see an entry for that race on Sunday.

Berkshire Royal, gone to Mullins from the the flat when with Andrew Balding? If so similar profile to Penhill & Nichols Canyon, but does anyone know who the owner is?

Purchased by Mullins and Kirk so most likely going to Ricci as he also has a history buying off the flat.

Winner of 1.25 at Exeter, eclair surf, looked pretty good there over 2m5f won fairly easy in heavy going. Fairly expensive p2p winner. Interviewed Emma lavelle afterwards who said he will be a chaser in the making but could possibly be good enough to make cheltenham. Paisley obviously went onto better things after running the same race.

Another very good winner from the dossier, it has been on fire this week. Looked a decent horse, cant see any prices quoted as yet

Midnight Run out over 2m on Sunday at Cork

Would have been more reassuming re: the festival target had he taken up the entry at Punchestown but this will be a good test up against Colreevy. The ground should ensure somewhat of a test of stamina. Good prep run anyway before the Navan Novice Hurdle in 4 weeks.
