2026 Ryanair Chase

Maybe impaire isnt out for the season then. Have to wonder where he's been.

“Late” is the word, entered a few minutes before the cut off time apparently

So was it just an administrative issue, the secretary got in late due to the ice on the roads?…..or was it an afterthought?……..or was it all part of a cunning plan?
 
Can anybody see the article about Romeo in RP. Headline says ideal distance in Ryan Air, according to Elliot. How likely does it sounds he’s going there from article.

Sounds like the other 2 are going straight there. I doubt both will run again anyway, maybe one.

Even though personally he'd be the most likely to be suited by the Gold cup test, of the King George bunch, unless it's really good ground then I could see any of them running well (bar Banbridge)

This is what I’ve been mulling over…….. What Sway does Paul have with owners and Willie??? I have no doubt he is banging the drum to ride Il etait temps - Champ Chase, Gaelic Warrior - Ryanair and Galopin - Gold cup
Would Willie and Ricci be happy with another jock on Gaelic in the gold cup, or would Paul just be happy with Energumene or Champ Kiely in the Ryanair!?
If Gaelic Warrior runs in the Ryanair what price would he be with Paul on top? Joint favourite I would say!!!

But yes I know there is only one gold cup!

I think a lot of the time what suits paul, also suits willie and the owners too. So people assume what paul wants will always be what happens.

In this case I don't know if that's the case though. Does gaelic warrior running in the Ryanair with paul on board, against fact to file who's also trained by mullins and would be likely strong fave without gaelic warrior in the race, and probably still fave with gaelic in the race..... suit more than gaelic going to the gold cup with patrick on board? In a race where mullins is unlikely to have as strong a fave as fact to file could be in the Ryanair?

I'm not sure it does

It's what happens in Dublin that matters.
Whoever rides him there will be trying for sure to give it a good go as they'll likely be on him for the Gold cup.
Assuming Paul rides a fit Galopin in both races of course.

If Gaelic gets well beat in Dublin then we all know what the discussions will be.

Related doubles a good angle as their will with the other big races in Dublin.

I imagine that Gaelic will go straight to Cheltenham. He’s not over fond of leopardstown

Yeah i'll definitely be doing that double.

I was a lot more confident with the similar galopin/fact to file double last year though. You were dealing with peak galopin, and I was already fairly sure he was just a stronger stayer than fact to file. So was just expecting a repeat of the Xmas runs and them to naturally split to the races that obviously suited them best.

This year's more iffy though. Not sure if galopin is as good, and also think gaelic is a stronger stayer than fact to file. So can easily see a scenario where gaelic is beaten narrowly but staying on as strong as anything at the end, which I couldn't see with fact to file.
 
I think it will also very much depend on how Willie thinks what shape Fact To File is in leading up to the Festival. If anything similar to last year, FTF could be his only Ryanair horse and everything else, including Gaelic, will be in the GC due to the openness of the race.

Hard to know what price any horse would be with the possibility of king George runners plus Jonbon turning up.
Without them it’s a 2 horse race if GW runs I suspect, that’s if FTF is back to form.
Still a bit up in the air predicting this race it seems to me.
Probably be that way for a while yet.
Good luck with anyone taking a firm view right now, but that’s where antepost can get the adrenaline flowing !!
 
When the dust settles on his amazing career, would Willie like to have on his CV amongst all his achievements and accolades, that he bred the winning jockey of the Grand National AND Gold Cup?

Alongside his credentials that is the extra reason that allowed me to back him for the gold cup after the King George.
I just worry what might happen in Dublin should he run.
Hopefully he runs well enough and looks at least the second string for the gold cup.
And not run dreadfully with others enhancing their claims.
Lecky Watson is the one I think Patrick may end up on.

Whose to say come March that he isn’t the first string for Willie?

Hasn’t done anything wrong so far this year, continued as he left off last season

DRF will shake things up for sure……we may have even less clarity than we have now! 😂

99.9% unlikely to run in the Ryanair he said, but why enter him then?

If all the others at the top of the market go to the Gold Cup, F2F gets a knock, and Heart Wood goes Fav - then he may run in it?

Thanks for the response Saxon. Was a bit of a misleading headline. Prob least fav of the races, Romeo will go to, but as with a few will see the easiest, most likely option come March.
