2026 Novice Hurdlers

Y

Yeah before the last year the last vinyl I bought would have been over 30 years ago . I’ve learnt so much over the past 18 months. It’s been mad but really enjoyable but crazy expensive as you say.
Off horse racing Topic , but ..
Any particular genre of Vinyl , that you guy's collect. ??.

So it really is a mix of stuff. A lot of alternative/indie. A lot of emerging artists. Some more established artists like Nothing but Thieves, Bad Omens, PierceThe Veil. I like rock but not cookie cutter stuff

There’s a HUGE amount of young talent coming out of Ireland at the moment…bands like Florence Road, Bleech 93, Brooki (her voice is insane), Theatre, Clifford’s, Cabl and many many more and more established acts like Just Mustard and New Dad.

Getting a vinyl,of a band right at the start of its career that you believe has potential can be like investing in a novice hurdler before it makes its debut. Florence Road for example released an EP called Fall Back. They made 500 and now you can’t find one for less than £250. Keo released an EP called Siren and a signed copy of one of them goes for a similar amount and these are bands that aren’t household names yet (they will be).

Other emerging bands to watch out for

Racing Mount Pleasant, Westside Cowboy, Maruja, I Promised The World,Die Spitz,Overpass. Wisp and many many many more

There’ are so many parallels between vinyl collecting and building an ante post portfolio. At the moment I only buy something that I enjoy listening to so I’m not yet at the equivalent of building a book but a bit like backing a horse that you don’t fancy in order to lock in a profit there are obvious vinyl investment opportunities that would guarantee a profit even if you don’t like the music. I just can’t bring myself to go there yet.

And following on from what Durham Edition said…finding the right variant from the right supplier is a big part of the appeal.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Such a shame we havent seen Windbeneathmywings this season, apparently unlikely to make festival. Anyone know what was the issue?

Ok Mare Alert. So im a huge fan of sheehan in hurdle races. He is great with green horses also. Anyway
PATH TO RONDA
Tomorrow at 8/1 and the festival at 50/1
Won before with holywood cha, you wear and anything for love- snowden loves the race and he earmarket the seymour for this horse last year. Said he loves it soft. I actually expect to win well tomorrow be short for the festival but gavin actual rides la conquiere 16/1 for snowden in it instead because of the ground.

I would probably play the skelton horse also tomorrow 6/1 and at the festival 25/1

I've a few rare vinyls but I had a copy of Sleep Token One ep, was a cd but they only printed 50, was wrapped & came with a plectrum & poster, sold it last year for £3,800, it cost me £666.
My collection is all over the place (Much like my AP book), Brian Jonestown Massacre, Jim Jones All Stars, HEALTH, Pertubator, Ian Dury, Jpegmafia, Marc Broussard,Joy Division...just off the top of my head are all recent purchases, yes it gets very expensive, I'm around the 600 mark now & am thinking about cutting the collection down, if we ever move house my back won't forgive me 😆

Yes anything limited by sleep token is crazy money . Incredible purchase and sale that well done. Are you aware of a shop/supplier out in the states called Levitation . They produce their own exclusive editions and they are very big on BJM …you might want to check them out.

I did know of Levitation but will check them out, I have had issue with import taxes from the states though so that tempers enthusiasm, stopped me picking up The Black crowes Amorica box set recently, but it'll be available here by now I'm sure, that's my next purchase, after the festival with my winnings, or to console myself over the losses.

I know it's off Topic , but interesting to learn about all the same .
Clearing out as well , so old stuff - Beatles , Elvis e.t.c. , and 80's ??, have a red vinyl 45 - can't stand losing you ' police , probably the most val. Of the 80's stuff. But , I also have a Live Aid Programme , Book and my Ticket Stub .- seen the Ticket Stubs going for serious money on ebay.

Saratogo running today for 3rd hurdles run. Had a couple of strange runs so far. Anybody fancy it for the Boodles?

Jalon D'oudaires also running today. Was off a long time after placing behind Jasmin De Vaux and Romeo Coolio in the bumper. Wonder if he could be any Albert Bartlett horse as big price

I like him over 3, bet365 were standout 100/1 for quite sometime but can see they've clipped him back into 66/1. In a race that can throw up some bigger price winners he could definitely out run his odds. Like you say he has some decent form behind grade 1 winners.

Did have a nibble at the 100/1 for Jalon when he was due to run in the Nathanial Lacy. However, withdrawn on account of the ground that day yet is due to run over 2m 2f on soft/heavy today suggests to me they are not convinced he would be the 3m stayer you generally need to be to win a AB. Will hold on, hope he wins today and either let it ride or cash out for a profit hopefully.

I'm not sure it's because they don't think he'll stay, it was probably more the case that they didn't want to bottom him in a hard race before the festival. He's had a season out with some sort of injury and the thinking might be to let him have an easier race here. Which might suggest he's a bit fragile... and that begs the question what was I thinking backing him Ante post

Won a point to point over 3m with Sixmile Bridge and Wendigo in the race so hope he would stay
