2026 Gold Cup

Can any of you guys offer an opinion on the chances of Grangeclare West actually running in this?. Im sat on a 100/1 slip but fear its aim is the GN, so is cashout the play??

I'd say its extremely unlikely. Mullins usually likes to keep a four week gap between races unless theres a good reason not to. I doubt he'd have ran on the 21st if he's going in the gold cup. And I'd say he's highly likely heading back to the national, and would be rare for mullins to run a horse in both the gold cup and grand national in the one season. Especially when he's got good chances in the gold cup already.

Cheers Ricci. That was my fear. In my eyes, bar the mishap at the last he would have won GN last year, so Ill top up on him for that and cashout the GC slip 👍

There was a bit on the Sporting Life about Mullins stable tour that says anything going to Cheltenham has a C next to the stable and he doesm't because he is going to Aintree for the national.

has anything or someone (trainer / connections) actually come and said F2F was going to the Ryanair

I’ve have F2F in the ‘he’s a Ryanair horse’ all season long, even after his last win, but I think that was a auto response to being totally and completely wrong about his ability to stay

If he was a Ryanair type horse

- he would travelled with Gaelic Warrior in the John D, but instead he was off the pace and tried to pick up late

- he would have been up there on the line with the other 4 horses in the King George. I rewatched that race and forgot the whole pack was all bunched up around the final bend. That was a sprint, and would have expected a Ryanair type to have finished better, especially against the other 3 milers

- he’s run over testing ground, over 3 miles and bolted in, ear pricked over the last!

I’m not buying inothewayurthinkin beng back to his best, I still question why they didn’t got to the Grand National last season on a nice weight, and not buying the ‘he had a hard race’ when he ran at Cheltenham and Aintree the season before. I think the GC left a mark on him, which would explain why he’s been extremely weak this season.
Which means, JP and Mark need a horse for this

I could be wrong come 12:00 tomorrow, maybe someone will post something here which is more concrete about where they are going, but I think F2F has done a Galophin des champ and has learnt to optimise his run over this trip, so much so that he’s not as effective as he was at two and a half

Gaelic on the other hand has looked like a Ryanair horse, travels all over his rivals during the race, has the pace but would need to be ridden to get the GC trip. Just drop him down and left him bowl on!

Still time for a mad switch around tomorrow

For now, thrown on some small betting credits on F2F going gold cup

And have done the 10/1 GW Ryanair and F2F GC

There shouldnt even be a discussion

The easy winner of the irish gold cup running in the ryanair would be a disgrace

Real shame about galopin, a sad end to what has been a great cheltenham career

I was partially joking with my post a moment ago, and do think he'll still go ryanair.

But wouldn't be totally crazy to think that maybe part of the reason for going ryanair was because they knew if they didnt then gaelic would likely step in and clear up. But gaelic will go gold cup now. So might they fancy that jonbon could beat the rest of them?

I dont actually think it will happen, but the thought crossed my mind.

Has a huge chance if paul can do what patrick did at aintree and get him to settle.

Bury him mid pack on the inside and come late.
