2026 Gold Cup

Maybe knowing GDC was out and that potentially JP has made the decision to supplement F2F, that's the reason Willie has loaded up in the Ryanair with IEP, Energumene and IET . With those 3 he'd have a decent chance of putting it up to Bon Jovi.

We really don't know that though do we ? Guesswork with Ino and to a certain extent Spillanes. Neither will go off in the first 3 in the betting.

That was before the GDC announcement. F2F chances in GC increased a fair bit for sure. Cromwell may have but he really has been dog shit beyond belief this year and that fall when very tired just didn't help at all.

One thing we do know is without GDC, Willie's chances of winning it have diminished greatly. He'll be trying as best he can to convince JP that F2F is a GC winner in waiting. Whether he'll take any notice I don't know. Nicky will also get on the phone to him saying Jonbon can beat anything else that's left in the Ryanair.

It's all very exciting.

Betting wise I don't want him to go GC but for the race I definitely do.

The second part of that is the part that I think might have a bit of logic, as I was saying earlier. I still don't think will happen though.

Gaelic Warrior will definitely go gold cup now as townends ride, meaning that if jp did supplement fact to file and run jonbon in the ryanair, jonbon would be up against impaire, banbridge and heart wood, as opposed to gaelic warrior. Which looks a bit easier on paper.

The thing is though, how confident would they actually be that jonbon could take care of those three? They'd be more confident than they were when they thought they'd be facing gaelic warrior, but I'd still be thinking not confident enough to divert fact to file to the gold cup.

Or he will be saying, and will have already said, he's a penalty kick in the Ryanair

If the news had come yesterday perhaps Spillanes and F2F would have swapped places. Would have been costly though !
