2026 Gold Cup

100% yes

As is F2F the other way imo.
Two years ago I would’ve agreed, but as CaT says, I can’t have him winning a gold cup. I think he likes bossing races, but doesn’t stay 3m2f to do that. Something outstays him…..or I’m significantly lighter in the wallet

…W Mullins;

Champ K; ‘We’re not sure about him. He appeared to be brought down on the flat at Christmas but was working well and I’d say I ran him back too early at Tramore and that backfired on us. On form and on this ground, he’s going to have to find a bit to be involved.’

GW; ‘He put in a good performance in the King George at Kempton but I think he’s better than that. He has a mixed record around this track, but I feel these very testing conditions might suit him. He has a tendency to jump right which ordinarily wouldn’t suit around here however in these conditions it might. He goes there very fit and well.’

F2F; ‘We will have to draw a line through his run in Kempton where he took no part from early doors for whatever reason. He has to put that behind him however I felt we needed to get this run into him in preparation for Cheltenham. I’m not sure these very heavy conditions will suit him but he takes his chance.’

GDC; ‘We have a strong hand for the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup but the first horse who comes to mind for it is Galopin Des Champs. He had a tough race over Christmas, and I hope that doesn’t leave its mark, but he loves this ground and track. He has a lot of things going for him providing that last race didn’t take too much out of him. He’s been doing everything nicely at home since.’

Grangeclare; ‘Brian Hayes rides. He has every chance going on his Grand National third and also his run in the Savills. He’s another who’s going to be there or thereabouts at the second last and hopefully he can finish off as well as he did at Christmas as that would put him right in the money.’

IAM; ‘Ran a cracker at Christmas and might have been a shade unlucky. I think these testing conditions over this trip will suit him really well, and we were lucky enough to get the services of Jack Kennedy. He’s not one you could leave out of any calculations on that last run.’

Lecky; ‘Another with credentials for a top-half-dozen finish.’

Spindleberry; ‘She has a bit to find on ratings however it’s there to be found. She has won a Grade One over two-and-a-half miles and has good form at up to two miles six. This is her first time beyond that trip and with her pedigree and the way she finishes out her races, there’s every reason to think she could improve again over a longer trip.

So those who are following her, I wouldn’t be putting them off. I think she has every chance of getting a top three finish with the anticipated improvement over the longer trip in these conditions.’

Not what I wanted hear on Spindleberry. If she’s within 10L of the winner, can see owners getting their way with gold cup.

Same. Was trying to stay strong on the good mares position I’ve got but I’ve just taken a small amount of the Hills 66’s WTAF and 16/1 ew NRNB with flutter just in case

The WTAF with betfair is only 25s…..shorter than the 33s to win the gold cup on its own which is shite. I can see her placing tomorrow (or Monday) and earning a place in the gold cup, but not sure I can bring myself to back her for this. Just hope she doesn’t stay at DRF or Danny gives her a stinking ride.

It was 66s with Hills, but I’ve just checked my account to and they’ve voided it! There goes that plan!

The Irish gold cup looks so intriguing today

A right mixture in there, Ryanair types, classier GC types and grand nationals

tough race, could spend a lot of time going through the card, only for Galophin to win lol

i’ve fallen on two

Affordable Fury I’ve checked his pedigree and all this horse does is stay (CD -0.75). He was pulled out due to ground concerns at fairyhouse (soft) but was also pulled out earlier in his career when going was good. On both occasions the horse then went on an extended break. Just not sure whether he’ll have a easy time up front, which I think his jumping. Will monitor the market for any support

Jack booked on I Am Maximus interests me, I may back him to win and W/O fav. I prefer to back a national horse here that’s been able to go at grade 1 pace which we saw on the Saville

So many ponderables in the Irish Gold Cup today

Was just going to watch and enjoy it with no bet

However, the 25/1 Grangeclare West each way with 4 places looks too good to leave alone imo

Some race this Irish Gold Cup. I'd love to see GDC make history but it is such a deep race. I want to see a lot more from Inothewayurthinkin today and if it gets really attritional the National horses could come into it.

Take a bow Mark Walsh - what a meeting he's had. Cobden must be wondering how he is going to fill those shoes.

Mark Walsh with a great DRF. Fact to File was great then. Patrick had Gaelic too far back but good Gold Cup trial at a track he hasn't always been his best at.

First and last time I'll say this, but Mark Walsh is worth 7lbs at the moment, so much confidence, riding like a man who has nothing to lose & its working for him.

Two years in a row we'll have a supplemented Gold Cup winner.

JP hates punters

Looks like old Father Time has got to GDC. Good from front two
