Not sure where he'll start out. Betfair Chase would suit if Soft ground. That would be perfect for him IMO.

From an ATR interview a few days ago, Sean Bowen says he hopes he'll be his Gold Cup horse and that The Charlie Hall will be his starting point if rain comes .

“I think Handstands will start off in the Colin Parker at Carlisle.

“He’s a different horse to The Jukebox Man and I think he could be outpaced in the early stages of a King George unless it was on very soft ground and I don’t think they will have to meet each other throughout the season.

“He’s probably more of a Gold Cup horse if he’s good enough. I think he is but he’s got to prove that in open company.

“He’s won over two and a half in the Scilly Isles but he stays very well and I think he’s a Gold Cup horse, whereas The Jukebox Man might hold a bit more speed and you might just see him in a Ryanair rather than a Gold Cup this season and he might be one for the Gold Cup in the future.”

‘He’s come back in looking very well. I came down off the stands at Cheltenham a bit disappointed when he finished fourth in the Gold Cup, but in fairness to him he ran well as plenty went wrong for him. We didn’t get a clear run with him last season as he had a setback at an awkward time and I think there’s more to come from him. We haven’t decided on specific path for him yet, but we’ll give him an entry in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury for a look.’

‘He gave us a day we’ll never forget in the Gold Cup. He’s come back in looking great and if the ground is soft enough, we’ll get him started in the John Durkan at Punchestown. Really, I could see us charting the exact same path as we did last season with him, but we’ll take it run by run with him.’

GAELIC WARRIOR​

He finished his season off well with wins at Aintree and Sandown. This time we might just start off in the John Durkan, and I really want to have a crack at the King George with him. That's where we are at the moment anyhow, and we'll then take a look at the rest of the season for him. He likes Aintree and Sandown, so why not [go back there]? We'll see about Cheltenham, what he could go for there. The King George will be my focus for the first part of the season.

LECKY WATSON​

Lecky Watson could go going down the Gold Cup route, given the way he handled the track and the occasion when winning the Brown Advisory. He’s a horse who improved all season and I’m sure he’ll improve more again this time. The Grand National is also an option as he’s a good, steady jumper and stays all day.

Gaelic warrior has form figures of 221 at Cheltenham he handles it fine. Stop over thinking it Willie!

Even if fact to file runs in gold cup, there's no way he's staying that 3 mile 2f up the hill.....just replay last year's two runs against galopin over a shorter trip and see that petrol tank empty!

On the ground as it was in this year's Gold Cup I reckon he'd have gone very close.

He flew the flag for us last season by winning at Cheltenham. He'll start off in the Coral Gold Cup, but he'll have a couple of racecourse gallops before Newbury. He's got to take another step forward, but he's got the profile to do so. He couldn't have been any more impressive in the Ultima, albeit off a mark that in a normal year wouldn't have got him into the race. He's got a long way to go and perhaps Grand Nationals are more realistic than Gold Cups, but he's very lightly raced. With Corach Rambler, the Ultima was a good Grand National trial and that's in the back of our minds.
 
Sounds like it could be Ultima again over Gold Cup. Win the Hennessy though and things could change.

Hacked up last off 127 now 142 and if they're serious about a Hennessy bid that mark is only going North, a win and he'll find himself 150+ and there'll be one or two who, just like he was, will be unexposed and a stone better that their mark.
It's so hard to win multiple big race race handicaps, win one and you effectively rate yourself too high for the next one...
