2026 Champion Hurdle

Just clearly wasn't her running Carnage. She looked beat from the start.
Must have turned a corner and worked the house down in her last piece of work and she can now smell Cheltenham. She just turns into a completely different beast there. Owns the place. She'll win.

Guess it depends on what prices appeal.If you think last time we saw her it wasn’t her running,Will she produce a performance this time?. I hope so but
No guarantees in this game and she has to improve past BDA, who improved from her 1st run this season.
If JK gets the fractions right imo BDA is the most likely winner, but there’s other dangers, and very much looking forward to seeing how the race is run.
Tutti being in the race makes it interesting and jockeys will be key for sure.

Seen on twitter someone mentioned the cheekpieces thing.

Majborough - bolted up, career best.

Kaid D’authie - career best last time at DRF.

State Man - clear when fell at the last in the champion, won easily at Punchestown.

From the above it does seem to have the desired effect.
It was Lydia Hyslop ❤, on Road to Cheltenham , few weeks ago ?.
After D.R.F. ?.

I have a hunch that Lossiemouth and BDA will underperform. The Irish trial looked like a mudder with both horses plodding on at the finish. I can’t back The New Lion off his last two runs. I was confident about him winning The Fighting Fifth and was counting my winnings after Constitution Hill fell, but he was a big let down. It worried me how easily Golden Ace and Anzadam made up 5 lengths around the final bend and Anzadam in particular was travelling all over him when he fell after a desperate jump. I can’t have hims so that’s the first three in the betting out ;-)

P Mullins is also looking forward to seeing Lossiemouth in the Unibet Champion Hurdle and his own ride on Anzadam in the same race.

“It’s great to see Lossiemouth in there,” he said. “She’s won at the last three Cheltenham Festivals and it looks an open race. We thinks she’s probably at her best over two-and-a-half miles but last year we had State Man for the Champion and sadly this year we don’t.

“So, she’s going to lead the charge for us, fill the void and hopefully can do it.”

And of Anzadam he added: “They should go a good gallop with Tutti Quanti and Brighterdaysahead in there and he has a first time tongue strap on for us.

“He disappointed at the DRF on very heavy ground so maybe bringing him back to a nicer surface will help. We’ll probably ride him cold and hope it falls into our lap.”

Anzadam;
Anzadam is a difficult ride. He settled better last time but it was a much better pace than the race before and I think this race will have a much better pace again. So, we think the pace of the race would suit him; he'll be a lot easier to ride at this pace and the application of a tongue tie first time for us, which he has used with success in France, could make a difference. We're convinced that he hasn't shown us his best form yet and once we get it right, we think he's a Grade 1 horse. Maybe he needs an extra half mile, maybe just the application of a tongue tie might make the difference, but if we can find out what it is, we are sure that he's a horse up to this standard.

Poniros;
Danny rides Poniros. He got a good spin off him in the Irish Champion Hurdle to finish third. I'm sure he will improve a lot from that run. However, on his ratings he's going to find it very hard to get into the first three and I imagine that's what Danny will try and do, to get in the first three, and if he does, that'd be a tremendous run.

Lossie;
Lossiemouth loves this track, she has three wins here, albeit two of them were over two and a half miles and the other one was the Triumph Hurdle. She is by Great Pretender who produces stayers more than speed horses but from the other side there's plenty of speed and the application of cheekpieces will be a help. In what looks an open enough Champion Hurdle, we've decided to let her take her chance.

I've just watched her win back in the International hurdle 2 years ago over the minimum distance. PT had to take a pull on her a few times as they weren't going quick enough for her. Still travelled around 30mph. The way she quickened that day from the last was very taking.

If Anzadam is a difficult ride why on earth has he put his son up? Patrick couldn’t hold on to the horse at Christmas.

Can only assume it’s because Cobden is on tutti. Not happy though 😂😂
Right enough, he settled much better under Cobden last time - maybe too well 😅 I don’t understand why they’re running Tutti. After Newbury PN said he’d be supplemented if the ground was soft and there is no chance of that. The horse was smoked by Celtic Dino and Alexei on good to soft at Chepstow.

Marked drift on Golden Ace, now double figures. I doubt it's bookmakers just being generous. Sort of thing the media should be chasing up.
