….Marine National out to a general 16-1 CC.
To my eye Marine National has forgotten how to jump a fence. I don't think he has a prayer in March jumping like that. Maybe just a lack of experience. Quilixios looked much the better 2 mile Chaser.
Yep, Q actually looked the proper 2m chaser to me too.
Jumped well, travelled well and finished strong.
Much rather take 50 for the CC, than 16 for MN, that’s for sure.

Barry Connell still thinks Marine Nationale is a player in the Champion Chase:

So ever the optimist
As his racing manager Ginger bollocks said on twitter for a week straight beforehand, there would be no excuses for him
He hasnt a chance in the race, he couldnt beat Quilixios getting weight with his ideal conditions and Quilixios would be only a small small place chance in the race itself
I backed 3 for the champion chase last year. Gentleman De Mee 66/1 e/w, Captain Guiness 16/1 e/w and El Fabiolo in multiple roll ups. I thought 2 of them had no chance but could get a place potentially.
El Fabiolo has it all to prove, Jonbon can't win at Cheltenham and Gaelic Warrior could go Ryanair. The race could set itself up for a repeat of a shock winner this year in a race notorious for producing shock results. If Enurgemene is back to near his best he is the pick of all of them for me. I have backed MN and will dip in again at 16s. He is being aimed at it and so will probably Quilixios. I will have them both in the CC team because its such an unpredictable race
