2025 Champion Chase

'End of the day J has both won and lost against the best of the Irish.'

Not faced Gaelic yet Carnage. Bring it on !

I know mate, that’s what I want at Sandown. Think it’s the best course for both horses to show their best.
I suspect though it will have to be March before we see it and imo despite both winning on the course, I don’t think Cheltenham is their best course to show their best.

I think the news re IET potentially being Willies KG horse makes it a distinct possibility that Gaelic will travel over to Sandown. Fingers crossed!

I think IET is fairly sure to go the KG by the sound of it (for now :topsy_turvy:)

Makes sense as he's a forward type having won first time up in November the last two seasons.

That’s Danny’s ride booked, wonder will Paul want a ride & the Riccis want a chance at retribution for Vautour’s near miss to Cue Card. I know I would if I had a horse like GW.

Anyone heard anything re Gaelic Warrior maybe coming over for the Tingle Creek?
Cant seem to find anything myself

Haven't heard for sure but the chances of Willie starting a good one in England is highly unlikely , just something he had said he avoids if at all possible run 1.

Would he not have had a run before that though ?

Edit...It's only 5 weeks away so maybe not.

4 rivals for Marine Nationale at Naas on Sunday. Should be a formality for him at the weights, but we know racing doesn't work that way. Suspect Hercule Du Seuil will be revved up for it, and will very likely get his ground.

Somewhat a forgotten horse Marine. Was the talk of the town until he blew out that day. Couldn't be backing before I've seen him in a proper race.

Marine Nationale being chopped in as we speak. A general 8/1 now. Bookies eh??!!

Marine has been as big as 250-1 on betfair for the ryanair. around 70/80 to 1 now.
I know the plan is the Champion, but he could easily be one that gets beat on the way to March and they decide to try and get improvement for the extra yardage.
Unless he's awful, then those prices are worth small cover bets I reckon.

4/9 opening price is way too skinny for Marine Nationale for the race on Sunday.

Hercule @ 11/2 I've played E/W, but Marine Nationale is going to have firstly got over his issues & secondly be revved up to go with Hercule on his preferred ground, IMO.

Quilixios has always looked like needing more cut in the ground though Henry's horses are in fine form!

He's getting 9lb from Hercule so he either wins or bombs out IMO. I can't see anything in between. An RPR of 150 would probably be good enough which would still be nearly 2 stone shy of where a QMCC would be. Ground won't be an excuse.

Hercule hit RPR's of 150+ 5 times last season novice chasing. I'm not sure 150 will cut it. Hercule has every right to improve as well.

Yes with a top rating of 158. My point being if Marine is getting 9lb, 150 would be sufficient to better Hercule's best performance to date. Hercule is less likely to improve in my opinion having had 8 chase starts and showing a plateau in his performances but of course, he could do.

I realised after I replied I hadn't taken into account the weight difference :encouragement:

Still expect Hercule to improve, personally, maybe not as much as MN. Marine Nationale has more to prove, based on how last season ended, IMO, which is also why 4/9 is an awful price.

Not disgraced after a year off. I think Marine will come on a lot for that
